I think Pat White would have been a more intriguing prospect as QB coach for Rich Rods offense. Plus I think he could really sell the program to recruits. But as proven, I don’t get to make decisions for the athletic department lol

Perhaps Pat turned down the job.

Doesn't mean they didn't ask him and offered too small a pay check.

I doubt Campbell University is offering a bigger pay day. But I could see Pat weighing the presence of RR's shadow with regards to advantages and disadvantages of his ambitions to move up the coaching ranks. Without a doubt it makes sense for WVU to at least offer Pat White though if you are going to make a nepotism hire like Rhett.

Do we really know who potion coaches are. It's a title, doesn't mean he will be coaching it. This gives him the ability to be 1 of the 10 to recruit.

They could hire both. There is no limit on the number of coaches.

Sometimes a great player is not a great coach, and it works in the inverse. Sometimes and average player becomes a great coach. We will just need to see what happens I guess.

Dabo Swinney as an Alabama WR for 3 years had 7 catches for 81 yards and 0 TD's.

Saban’s career at Kent State ended without much notice.

By the name of Rhett Rodriguez. The clown show is just getting started.
After an exhaustive, tireless search and dozens of interviews, one name rose to the top. Thank goodness Rhett spurned his other offers from Auburn, Georgia, USC and Texas. It is truly our lucky day.

I mean let’s be fair here, a ton of money spent on the DC. I think in all, the staff looks decent. I would have liked to retain the oline coach and get Pat White on the staff for the recruiting element but the staff overall may do well

Let's see the resume:

  • Played D-I football as a QB
  • Son of a head coach with 30+ year experience
  • grew up in West Virginia

So, what's the problem?
Yes, completely agree. There is no problem. This is exactly what you look for when hiring a QB coach.

But wait, why the "grew up in WV?" That's not important at all. There's nothing special about West Virgiinia.

Then go **** yourself. [thumbsup]
Oh, that's not my opinion, that's RR's.

"...there is great value in coaching at your alma mater, at your home university and in your home state." Rodriguez "didn't think the place was necessarily any more special than anyplace else," Garrison testified, "and I was angry about that."

That WAS his opinion. He’s changed that viewpoint after coaching the last 17 years outside of WV at various state and universities. You need to let go and move on. I certainly do not think the same ways I did 17 years ago either. People change. People evolve. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst. He’s apologized. He’s expressed regret. He’s also said now, he gets to coach at the greatest place in the country and live in the greatest state in the Union. I believe him. I have shared his opinions as a younger man and an older man. I once thought WV wasn’t special either as a very young man. I was wrong. And so was Rod.

You don't have to cheer for WVU so move on elsewhere.
