When we went to the Alcorn game a couple weeks ago, we came from Vernon, AL to Columbus. Hwy 12 from the state line all the way to the Shell station where you get on 82 to go to Starkville was being paved. There was loose rock all over the place to chip paint and break windshields.

Anybody who lives in that area, like Caledonia, know if that project has been completed? If not I'll have to go from Sulligent to just south of Aberdeen and come in on 45.

Thanks.

I go Hamilton, AL > Detroit, AL > Splunge, MS > Aberdeen, MS > West Point, MS.

Is the road from Detroit to Splunge/Aberdeen good? Went that way several years ago and it was really narrow and bumpy.

Last game, we came back by going 45N from Columbus, then Hwy 8 east from just south of Aberdeen, then to Sulligent, AL. It was a bit longer that way.

I don't have any issues with it, but it is narrow. They were working on a stretch right across the line in MS for a while, but it's all paved now.

Decatur>Russelville>Hamilton>Guin>Fayette>Columbus

Works well for me.

As you know, there's no real good way.

This road is paved... Lowndes Co Road Depp and MDOT is all about the business!

They recently opened 5-10 miles of 4 lane on 24. It bypasses Red Bay now. It will be 4 lane to within 15 miles of 78 soon.
Came back that way in August, about 10 minutes longer than the vernon-sulligent-hamilton-russleville route mainly due to the 45 in "construction" zones.
After 45mph speed limit is 65, I think it will be quicker.

We stay in Tupelo so that may be the way of choice. Think that's better than going to Hamilton, then taking 78 to Tupelo?

It we have a morning or afternoon game we just go over and come back the same day, as we did for the Alcorn game. Go Hamilton-Sulligent-Vernon-Columbus in that case.
