Denying Plaintiffs' Complaint for Emergency Injunctive Relief. </span>That

appeal this decision to the Mississippi Supreme Court and the Court
rules in their favor. That is most unlikely.

Executive Director Ennis Proctor stated, "I am hopeful that this matter
is closed, but we are prepared to file
with the Supreme Court should that be necessary. We must remain
consistent in the enforcement of the MHSAA rules to protect students and
to ensure fair play. There is no pleasure to be gained from this
situation because we all
feel for the Bruce players."</font>[/quote]<span style="text-decoration: line-through;">I'll try to add a pdf of the ruling for those interested in an edit...

Not just because I agree that Bruce shouldn't advance because they violated the rule. If the MHSAA hadn't declared a forfeit and Hamilton had sued, it would have the right ruling to rule in the MHSAA's favor. Not every dispute belongs in court. If Bruce (or Hamilton if the MHSAA's decision had been the opposite) doesn't like the MHSAA's rules, they're perfectly free to play as an independent.

This case does bring up one huge flaw in the MHSAA's rule though. It should be based on number ofinnings in number of days, not on number of innings in a week. Theoretically, a pitcher could throw 17 innings on Sunday and 17 innings on Monday and be in compliance with the MHSAA's rule.
