One of the best rivalries in the state (actually THE best if you followed a recent thread on this). Both teams coming in ranked , HC's homecoming... surprised no threads on this unless I missed one. 3 hours until kickoff, how does this one go down?

This game is important to LT especially after the GBW debacle so I bet they play hard!! HC in overtime 28-21?

Bryant put them right back in the game with a bullet pass to a WR in stride for a 52 yd TD. LT just gets huge 4th down stop inside their own 10 yd line.

Edit: LT now driving. Edit: Bryant ripping HC apart.

HC misses field goal. LT fumbles on first play and HC recovers. Two plays later HC scores. HC does a Tebow-like goal line pass for the 2pt conversion.

Wild game. Bryant gave HC a lot of trouble. LT had an awesome onside kick recovery with a minute or so left, after going for the win with a 2pt conversion. Bryant completed a first down pass. Then the DE on HC had a sack on 2nd down and on third got to Bryant as he threw. On 4th Bryant zipped one down the field but it was covered and fell incomplete.

Yep, sorry thought it was their homecoming. I'll say this, if nothing else LT played in two of the wildest finishes in the state the past two weeks. Tonight they were down bad at half then made a great comeback, actually leading in the 4th, then HC takes the lead, then LT scores a TD inside a minute and chooses to go for 2 instead of the tie (which I stated was definitely a bad decision at the time). You'd think it was over but LT gets the onside kick, but then the HC defense stepped up big. Just so many swings in such a little amount of time.

Tonight was what HS football is all about.

And I agree Bryant is a very good QB and caused HC some problems, but sometimes it seems like everyone just equates LT with Bryant. No disrespect to him, but a lot of LT kids gave HC fits (and vice versa). Just a really exciting game to watch.

Yeah I understand. Didn't mean to take anything away from the rest of the squad. I should at least mention that #20 who has really nice rhythm with Bryant and turned the ball game around kick with that 3rd quarter strike.

Anything else stick out to you about last night's game? What should we expect from the WSS this post season? Looks like we'll have DGN in 7A, and then OPRF, HC and GW in 8A.

Edit: I'm feeling like Wander and DGN are gonna have another sneaky 7A run ala 2012.

Sorry, I'm not sure which club you follow when you ask "what should we ask when we face the WSS this post season?"

I guess my take is that Glenbard West has clearly established itself as #1, and HC as #2, although last night was as close as it gets. LT has slipped to #3 but a very dangerous #3 now. As I've said, DGN is undersized and easy to look over but really well-coached and could pull an upset any week. OPRF supposedly was down but just played GW very tough so they seem to be getting better and may give LT fits next weeks. The rest aren't good.

Nice observation on #20 Brandon Fisher, the "go to" receiver for 3 years now and although short, very quick but very strong and mean. Yes he and Bryant have chemistry. LT is loaded with big talented linemen but have been overpowered in power games the last 3 weeks, and I'm thoroughly convinced its schemes and coaching and not talent; if LT coaches figure it out it could change, but that's completely the problem at this point. Outside of the linemen, I'm high on the junior CB's but I have a bias. I'll say that #1 Hareson Willis is vastly underrated, a little undersized but fast as hell and flies to the ball like a dart. A former wrestler who hits hard too. Had a blocked kick in this game and also a big threat on the offense.

LT hadn't beaten anyone yet so they look like a one and done in 8A. HC's fate will depend on the draw and health of the QB. They could win a game in 8A. OPRF will be one and done in 8A. DGN could win a game in 7A depending on the draw. The conference has been poor in the playoffs the last few years aside from GW.

Please correct this if I'm wrong, but I think OPRF has changed QB. They started a Soph QB last night, and the difference showed up after spotting GW 21. And for the record, GW ended the game on the OPRF 1 yard line and let the clock run out from there. But OPRF may have found some offense last night. If correct, they may be on the upswing.
