If you want to retain your recruiting grounds in Ohio, just hire away Ohio States D.C or Youngstown State's. PELINI as both have experience.
Luke Fickell is co defensive coordinator. Greg Schiano is running the show. Luke retains his title and 800 grand a year for being a good soldier during tattoo gate. Good recruiter, average coach. If you want to retain your recruiting grounds in Ohio, just hire away Ohio States D.C or Youngstown State's. PELINI as both have experience.

What position are you talking about, head coach or DC? I doubt Pelini would swap a HC position for a DC position and would Finkle make a lateral move from a NC contender to a place struggling for an idenity?
Pelini is HC at Youngstown StIs Pelini a head coach somewhere now? I think that if Stoops makes it thru this year - that Pellini maybe given a nice offer to become the defensive co-ordinator here. But here is the real question for everyone - this is not to keep knocking Stoops either. If you have Gran and Hinshaw running the offense and you have Pellini heading the defense - what is it that Stoops can do for us then? He really doesn't seem to be the mastermind behind any game plans and game execution. I think he may be an outstanding Defensive Co-ordinator - but we haven't seen anything that makes me think he is a good head coach. Recruiter - seems to be excellent; Getting the AD and supporters behind him and fundraising - excellent; Quality man with great morals - excellent; organizer - probably very good; Loyalty - excellent; Will do the hard thing and replace a "friend" if needed - questionable; Game plan, in game clock management and game half time adjustments - POOR!
The question is can he learn to do the biggest thing a head coach must be good at? 25 years in the business and now 4th as head coach here doesn't indicate that he has this trait - at least not yet.
The old adage of a great coach versus a good coach - "He can take yours and beat his or he can take his and beat yours", I don't think this applies to Coach Stoops - I can only hope he proves me wrong - but I wouldn't bet on him at this point.

Pelini is HC at Youngstown St
I agree. He already looked good in blueDino Bravo from Syracuse
Kinda what I was thinking^Pelini is a joke! Why didn't he get a top job instead of Youngstown State?

Head coach. Fickell could take some of Urban's assistants with him, maybe even one of their highly rated qbs who wont play and wants to transfer. What position are you talking about, head coach or DC? IMO the next 20 to 30 years will show than an average season of 9-4 at Nebraska in the 21st century is above averageBecause he under-achieved at Nebraska - a top program.
This ^^^^^ Pelini never won less than 9 games in any of his 7 seasons at Nebraska, including 3 seasons of winning 10 games. He was the DC at LSU in 2007 when the Tigers won the NC.To "punish" Nebraska and make them pay him as much as possible.
Had he taking a bigger job, the amount Nebraska owed him would have been reduced based on his new salary.
As it is, Nebraska has to pay him nearly $130,000 a month until February 2019 since his salary at YSU is so "low"
Hire Count Chocula and Oscar the Grouch to run your analytics and dline positions. There ya go big boy.Hiring Fickell is one of the dumbest things I've heard on this board. Meyer just kept him as a good jesture. Even OSU fans will tell you that.

Sources on this claim? I wont hold my breath Brian Williams.
Who is going to leave Urban Meyer's staff to work for Luke Fickell? That makes no sense!Head coach. Fickell could take some of Urban's assistants with him, maybe even one of their highly rated qbs who wont play and wants to transfer.
Pelini has experience as a H.C and while Nebraska may think 9 wins is a joke, it would be welcomed in Lexington.
The buyout is brought up at nauseam and it's a big number for sure. I think it has to be swallowed, it probably wont happen because football is just a distraction at Kentucky.
Because he under-achieved at Nebraska - a top program. If a coach can't succeed at a top program he can't succeed here. And even when he can he still can't. Bill Curry says hi.
I would work to reduce the payout to less than half of that - which would probably happen, if not then I would make sure that whatever salary he gets as the top defensive co-ordinator be deducted from his payout. Finally, I would use the money from the additional ticket sales and stadium revenue the new coach will bring in next year and the year after - that alone should more than cover the full $12 million! Don't believe it - check the attendance from the first two years of Stoops and the last year of Joker's.How does the OP propose getting rid of Stoops and his $12M buyout first? Let alone getting an accomplished coach to come here.
There won't be a negotiation of Stoops' buyout unless he becomes caught up in some moral turpitude or cheating. And I don't think there would be a deduction of his next job's salary, either. His contract isn't set up that way.I would work to reduce the payout to less than half of that - which would probably happen, if not then I would make sure that whatever salary he gets as the top defensive co-ordinator be deducted from his payout. Ok, Urban doesnt seem lto be sentimental about things like this but thats just my outside view. If he is as inept as reported, OSU might really be a family friendly place to keep such a buffoon on staff. Bravo Urban. My friend is on the staff at OSU
Is his contract available to be seen by the public? If so, do you have a link - I would like to see how it is structured, to see what kind of deal Mitch made. By the way I was answering how to ZZ's question.

Looks like you're a Tech fan. You and I both know he isn't leaving that place unless he gets a big time program in his ear and that isn't a guarantee he would leave.Or we can hire Kliff Kingsbury who is young AND experienced. Then you get recruiting ties to Texas. Ohio has not done jack for our recruiting. Lets just be honest.
