And, btw, I think some folks snickered when I said a week ago that AT would be a test for GW
Capn, totally agreed with you about this game and it's importance to GW. This AT team is an upgraded football team compared to AT teams of the recent past. That said, given the 7 or 8 GW kids in street clothes on the sideline, I was impressed with how GW pulled it together (finally) in the 4th. Those Sophomore and Junior kids grew up last night. Am not sure if and when the injured kids can get back on the field, but hope most can get back in a week or 2. And, I thought that was the best coaching job on the GW sideline so far this season.

It came down to one play for me.

At 14-7 when AT drove all the way down the field to the 2 yd line in their first drive of the 2nd half. If AT slams 11 into the line once or twice, the game is tied. Instead they throw back a deep pitch sweep into a defense that has 11 guys on the LOS. Eight yard loss and two pass plays and a FG and GW holds the momentum. Instead of 14-14 and giving the ball back to a GW offense that has 23 yards to that point, GW comes off fired up to be leading 14-10.

Not sure AT's guys had the gas in the tanks to go both ways all night, but GW sure had plenty of guys playing both ways. More than I ever remember. Good news is that they get York at home and DGN before LT. Gotta get healthy.

I watched the York/LT game this morning. Was comparing York with their game last week with AT. They gave AT all they could handle, losing by 7. Last night vs LT, York was down 23 at the half but came out to score a TD to start the 3rd. Those kids from York never gave up, so expect the same next weekend. For GW next week, they must continue to improve in several areas that I won't go into here. But I have to wonder if last night was their break through game (in my mind, over the last 9 years, there is a defining game each season, typically game 3 to 5, that shapes the rest of the season). We should know in a week or 2.
