Here we go with the transfers again. This does not happen anywhere else.*

...after Jarvis pulls out of the draft, because there is still the possibility that that spot might come open. I also wouldn't be surprised if all was mum until Sidney and Riek officially get cleared, since there seems to be plenty of issues surrounding their eligibility. No need to send Lewis to prep school if we don't have to.

that Lewis will not graduate from high school? Because that's the only way you can go to prep school.

Just curious ... what do you think our chances are of Varnado returning and both Sidney and Riek are cleared?

...individually, I would say that we have better than 50% odds on each, but it just seems like that there is a realistic possibility of one of the three happening.

this would be a LEGIT transfer IF all of these players show up. Our luck, they wont show up, jarvis goes pro and we have 2 folks transfer leaving us with 2 players...we then have to pickup 2 walkons just to be able to legally start a game at which time one of the 4 fouls out and we are down to 3 players which you can still legally play with i believe.

Abandon all hope...Oh, and its dingles fault.

Holcombe seemed like what is so often described as the heart of the team. Hope he lands on his feet somewhere, its the least that can happen, since he is falling on his sword for MSU's success.

Clearly an upgrade in terms of talent though.

I don't know if "falling on his sword" is entirely accurate. Holcomb knows that he will be coming off the bench with the walkons during blowouts if he returns. I don't blame him for going where he can get a little bit of PT next season. His transfer is a win, win for Holcomb and MSU.

I hate to see him go. He seemed to be a hard worker and one of the tougher guys on the team. He'd be a tough loss if Varnado leaves and neither Sidney nor Riek qualifies. Heck, he'd be a tough loss even if Riek qualifies in my opinion. I'm not too enthused about this Riek guy.

...why you are not enthused about getting a lottery pick that is 7'2 before he had knee problems, but reportedly his knees are 90% so that is a mute issue...

I'll take this guy over Holcomb, ACL or not...

I love mute issues. They come up at least twice a week on six pack.

You guys are entitled to your opinions.

I'm not impressed with Riek. It seems that some of you have been reading selectively. Riek is a stick figure that is easily knocked off the block. He runs awkwardly. He has no shot other than a dunk. He can barely read or speak English which leads me to believe that his chances of getting into school and staying in school are slim to none. We haven't gotten his paperwork yet which is interesting to say the least. The reports of him being a "lottery pick" are specious at best. How are you a "lottery pick" and a "project" at the same time? I think this guy will get abused in the SEC. jmo

I'm doubtful that Sidney gets into school also. That's all I'm going to say on that.

If neither of these kids get into school, then Holcolmbe is an unneccessary loss in my opinion.

probably 20 minutes that he played last year. The reason he was a lottery pick and project at the same time is because he tore up his acl and that caused him not to enter the NBA draft, thus a project now. Had he not hurt his knee he probably would have gone very high. I really do not see how you would take Holcombe pretty much at best a walkon compared to a past 5* player in Reik.

Yeah, falling on his sword is dramatic, i agree. Couldnt think of exactly what i wanted to say. Basically, he was the epitome of a team player last season with his cheering, supporting others, etc...and now he is stepping aside for MSU to be better. Sure, he will hopefully benefit from the change in that he will play, but at the same time, its significant that he is doing this since it isnt all for him.

The Delks, Hans, etc...they transferred for their own reasons, call em selfish or whatever. But Holcombe is leaving now that there are better immediate impact players coming in and allowing a space to be created. Just seems a better in my mind.

hold his ground and has offensive moves coming out of high school is damn near impossible. Finding a center period is almost impossible.

We will be fine and I hope that Holcombe finds a good situation as mentioned by previous posters. I recall Rimmer jumping around and whooping it up during the player introductions etc...
There will be someone new to jump around and chest bump etc...
