I've seen many pitchers come through MSU, but that Holder is the best. Jay Powell included.

Better than Thigpen, Papelbon and Stratton? Paps got a lot better in the minors.

Even a casual observer has to notice he's on a different level.

He's unreal to watch.

The Purdue announcers said they definitely don't want to see him tomorrow night

He's better than Paps was. (At State)

He totally overpowers batters. If he could develop a third pitch and just throw it for show, he would rarely get hit.

Holder has the chance to be a big league closer. He has the mentality, stuff and body.

I've seen many pitchers come through MSU, but that Holder is the best. Jay Powell included.

I'd say yeah. Include all of them, and Jeff Brantley, BJ Wallace, Carlton Loewer, Paul Maholm, etc.......

Chris Stratton was a bad MFer.. I remember him coming into the sec cchamp game and knowing the game was in the bag. If he had been our closer it would be the same as Holder, although not as cool because big closers are bad ***. Rod Beck baby!

Stratton was average as a freshman and had a bad sophomore year. He just had an unreal season last year.

The season is still young and so is Holder's MSU career, but I've never seen a freshman/early sophomore be as dominant as he has been.

People forget Stratton started off in the bullpen last year. And I agree, I think Holder is the best I've ever seen pitch at MSU.

I'm not old enough to have seen the Brantley's, et. al.

But I look at talent as well as the intrinsic things you can't teach. Holder is "different", and that's one of the best descriptions I'll ever give of a kid I scout (and I don't do baseball, but I grew up on it and know what to look for mostly). You knew it very early last year, and his consistency and attention to each pitch just puts him up there for me.

Maholm and Stratton were lights out, parties over. So is this guy. HATE talking about a kid that's so young, but he just sticks out, and always has.

I hope he has a great career, and I expect him to do extremely well here and further barring anything happening.
