It was a good, funny bit, but nothing will change.

Big story of the night was that Pierce Brosnan fathered both the reincarnation of The Karate Kid AND Slenderman.

Hilarious. [laughing]

No, it won’t change anything. But who cares. Awards shows are stupid anyway.

The only thing that will change is that I doubt they use a (funny) comedian to host again any time soon.

"So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent, and your god and f*** off, OK?"

I love Ricky Gervais. He's my hero!

Ricky Gervais is correct of course but this is kind of his "thing" last few years and it seems more like he is being attention ***** about then the people he is trying to mock. As long as we have people who watch and read what celebrities do/say then expect even more of their very ill-informed opinions.

I didn't even realize it was on. Not that i would have watched it anyway. i don't care for their political views or opinions on anything.

Ricky is right They are clueless about how the average citizen goes about their life. Those guys live in bubbles.

Aside from the Hollywood elites getting told off, which joke was the funniest?

I think Judy Dench licking her minge was pretty funny but other than sticking it the snobs, the set was just ok.

Are people not aware that Gervais is just as liberal as the crowd? Seems weird that he’s become a conservative hero overnight for saying one rational thing.

He did what he was hired to do. They know how hypocritical they are.

They also know that the only people who watch these kinds of shows are very pliable. Pretty typical ploy to disarm your adversary by pretending to agree with them.

Because these days, aside from a few in the intellectual dark web, we never hear anything rational from liberals. I wish he would visit every college campus and give the faculty and students the same treatment.

That. Was. Awesome. The facial expressions on the attendees after some of those one-liners hit too close to home - priceless.

Hanks' and Streep's in particular. Total look of smugness. It was the look of the 19-year old 1st-semester cousin who comes home for Thanksgiving and tries to lecture the family while eye-rolling everyone to death.

Can't stand Hollywood.

I was thinking the same thing. Notice he didn’t chide the gallery for their leftist politics.

Some of that ish was funny as hell, and I am certainly not out on the right wing. One thing is for sure, it will be the last time he is asked to emcee the Golden Globes. [roll]

OT, really want to see 1917 that won the best picture in a bit of an upset. Anyone else seen it yet?

I hate to be this guy, but I haven’t heard anything rational from liberals or conservatives in at least a decade. Liberals rely on emotional appeals and warm fuzzies. Conservatives rely on fear and anger.

Gervais is right here. He’d also be right at a values voter summit filled with televangelists and politicians.

Celebrities and politicians just like to hear their heads rattle and pander to those who they feel will support their careers or campaigns.

I hate to break it to you, but the world is going to end in 12 years.

Also, WWIII is upon us, don't you know?
