Not only do we need the bye week but the schedule gods looked kindly upon us this year. Indiana and Purdue are up before Wisconsin. Those will be good solid games to get us ready for Wisconsin up at Camp Randall.

If you need a bye week to handle Purdue and/or Indiana things are bigger problem than you might think. Nebraska does not need a bye week for that. They just don't. They will win both those games with ease.

Don't know. Knevel was pulled because he was not able to handle the DE.
From the pregame, it sounded like a lot of kids would have their hands full with #91.

Lovie Smith is a good defensive coach and the Illinois D looked pretty good to me.
Overall, happy with the win. The bye week coming at a good time.

Bye week allows those injured to heal and to set some plans in place for the guys who will need to fill in for those injured guys. Does the team need it to beat those two teams, not likely but heal, rest and plan out the second half of the season with the team while getting some younger guys some extra work outside of scout team only duties for a day or two.

Like the timing for several reasons

Ozigbo sprained his ankle.
Oz had his ankle twisted after the tackle by the jackass that tackled him. We've all seen guys do that at the end of the play and I wish the hell they would start flagging that crap. It's an intentional attempt to injure the ball carrier.

Indiana is giving MSU all they want right now. We better be ready for them because they are a much improved team. Their QB threw I think 5 ints last week but he looks solid so far against MSU.
