when I saw this yesterday, but then I saw the clip of his coach pulling his hair back and crying like a ***** saying, "why is this happening to me?!?!" and decided to give the kid the benefit of the doubt that the coach was a lunatic.

ETA: I still think the kid is a *****, and I'm a little disappointed in what it apparently takes to play college basketball on some levels. I thought he looked horrible in the small clip they showed.

Yeah... that coach is nuts. I think the drill itself and some yelling would have sufficed. Any coach that feels the need to put his hands on a player in a threatening manner has power issues.

I don't have much to say for the player either.

That entire sit down was just odd.

I have no issue with a coach getting physical but I believe you can cross the line. That being said, I don't think this coach crossed the line and I think this coach went out of his way to apologize multiple times to this kid. Even going as far as to hang it out there on live tv only to have the little **** to show him up at the end of the clip. In reading the comments at fark.com it was stated that this kid and his family pulled the same stunt on his highschool coach.

I did laugh at the coach saying, "You got a little blood on ya? Good!"

If the kid can prove the coach did tear his ****** then I say the kid is entitled to get whatever he is suing for....

completely uncalled for.And it has nothing to do w/someone being a *****, that kind of coaching doesn't equate to success.

Coach K would agree.

Granted I agree the kid might need to grow a pair, but there was no point in that. I can understand if a coach is hands on with the players which is what I respect, but that was a tad bit extreme. The kid was practically blind sided. Him saying he can't play right now sounded like ********, but if you couldn't tell from watching that video that the coach is ape ****, then somethings wrong.

...fan of Bobby Knight-style abuse or anything, but that kid is a complete douche. He wants to be a big man on a basketball team, he needs to learn to be tough (to grab a board and clear his space, to be physical, to thrive at banging down low). Practice, with a coach who supports you, is as safe a place to learn that as anywhere. He didn't shove him. He didn't back hand him (as the police report claims). He didn't really kick him as much as nudge him with his foot. The coach apologized. He apologized in front of the whole team. What more does the kid want?<div>
</div><div>Ask a serviceman if he thinks it's excessive. Good grief. We have gone completely soft.</div>

based on a 30 second video. That wasn't his best moment, but I can't tell if he's "ape ****" or not, so I guess something's wrong with me.

in how he carried himself. I'm not saying he's a bad person, because I didn't get that feel from him, but he seemed quite off. Especially when he kept saying it was an accident and unintentional when clearly it wasn't.

The shove down was a bit much, but when you then start attempting to kick the guy in the balls, you've crossed the line.

Good gosh. What a puss. It's weird how the whole team felt the apology was sincere and they're backing the coach, but this brat wants the coach punished. He practiced THREE more days before doing something. Sounds like he was getting pushed and didn't like it. It was a physical drill. Go put some vagisil on it, Sally.

WOW!!! What has this country come to? If I was the kid's father, and saw this, I would be embarrassed that my kid didn't man up. I would tell him to suck it up and quit being soft. I will guarantee you that the great men who made this country would have done the same thing. Question? After seeing this, would you hire this kid to work for you? Answer: Hell No!!!!!!!

Or they teach their kid to be a man. How many productive people have started their adult life by trying to sue somebody for crap similar to this? Answer: None.
