Hey Folks...

Know many of us are trapped at home for the past many months. COVID and WFM has allowed me to get back to having a veggie garden at home.

Starting a thread to see if others are doing to same and if so, maybe you would be willing to share the details of your gardens. If the thread takes off, I'll post some pics of my raised beds.

I started a good portion of my garden indoors from seeds. I am in zone 5B and waited until late May to put everything outside. In my garden, I currently have:

Tomatoes (slicing, plums and cherries)
Peppers (variety bells, poblanos, anaheim, jalapenos, habaneros)
Eggplants
Cukes
Lettuce (still growing in this heat)
Beans (pole and bush)
Squash (summer, Italian, butternut)
Honeydews
Herbs (cilantro, curly and flat parsley, basil, rosemary, oregano, mint)

I am sure I am forgetting some stuff, but that is the bulk of it. I have 4 4x12 raised beds and use a small area for the squash.

The plan once things fully fruit is to start canning them.

Let's see how this thread does.

My wife bought several raised planters and is growing tomatoes, zuchini, acorn squash, jalepenos, sweet potatoes, garlic, creamer potatoes, butter lettuce, pole beans, broccoli and strawberries. She also has a separate bed with dividers where she has her herb garden (basil, oregano, sage, thyme, tarragon, mint, and chives). For rosemary, I just bought a good size bush at Costco for $9 and put it in a pot.

I've got 2 raised beds 12x5 each. I've got tomatoes and lettuce on one bed and lots of different peppers along with basil on the other. Everything is growing like crazy.

The last couple of years I had not planted anything in the yard. I have been growing tomatoes in pots on the patio. This year in addition to the pots, I have 4 in the yard up close to the house where I removed some shrubs. The pots are two gallon which is too small and requires a lot of watering but damn I have about 25 good size fruit between the three right now for the first harvest coming up.

Tons of cooking herbs. Nice big Beefsteak tomato plant, did some broccoli and spinach as well and potatoes for a little later in the season. Used 25 gallon fabric pots instead of beds for my veggies this year. They seem to be working really well. Not sure how many seasons I’ll get out of them but they have worked really well so far.

I've been using Earth Box for tomatoes for the past few years with great results. Also several herbs and hot peppers (container and ground).

I made all my boxes out of normal pine. 2"x12"x12'
Probably going to get a few years out of them and can easily be replaced when needed.

My season up here in upstate NY is much later than your (assuming most of you are in KY).
All my tomatoes are growing very well, but nothing ripe yet.

How are your preserving all your herbs? Ice cubing them?

Been cutting the basil every week and doesn't look like I ever make a dent. Been making and freezing lost of pesto.

I get the feeling mason jars and vinegar will be the next items missing from stores. Get them while you can.

Rebuilt my deck ten years ago and using the old lumber i made four 4x12boxes x 15” high. makes gardening much easier. gonna downsize to only one box after this season though. it’s amazing how much stuff you can grow in just one box.
First ripe tomatoes last saturday—two early girls plus yellow and red cherry turning every day. also cilantro, basil, oregano, rosemary, bell, banana and jalapeno peppers. i planted six tomato plants and have four volunteers besides—all in one box.

I’ve had a garden for many years. Still not good at it but it’s rewarding. Have 20 tomatoes. Been eating some for about 2 weeks (mainly sweet cherry and grape). Favorite are the pineapple. Have about 10 peppers. Kale, collard greens, spinach, lettuce, couple squash, cantaloupe, onions, corn, sunflowers, cucumbers and some basil and dill. Trying cucamelons for the first time. Gardens fenced in with electric around the top to keep out deer.

I’m growing, umm....vegetation. In my basement. Yeah! With HID lighting. And reflective walls. Vegetation! Will harvest soon. Then the drying process. Yep! Dried Vegetation. Can’t wait.
What kind of cat nip you raise.......flat white is one of the best reflectors of light......MH/HPS or LED.......photo or auto.........curious minds are inquiring.........I am holding out hope that farming goes legal before I die.....if only for one season.........it gets old being a sneak.......
