Homecoming games..... when is the last time someone

scheduled either Essex or Riverheads to be their homecoming matchup?

Just curious.... since you are supposed to schedule your weakest opponent usually that game.

We tried to get Wilson but someone beat us to them ! Riverheads had to settle for Page Co.

I recall some years back Northumberland scheduled Essex for homecoming. It was a Saturday game. Let's say there were about 700 or so people on the Northumberland side. After they crowned the homecoming queen, a mass exodus occurred. Couldn't have been more than 50 people left on their side then.

I am pretty sure that Luray has scheduled Riverheads for its Homecoming game sometime in the not too distant past...like maybe the last 10 years or so.

I've seen it done in 3A well back when there were only 3 classifications. Rustburg would always schedule Amherst or Brookville... This was 08-11. Talk about coaches getting full of themselves.

It is my understanding that bc Essex was always a huge rivalry game, that Washington and Lee High School in Montross rarely ever scheduled them for HC because it would have meant one lesser gate...at least that's what I heard! I don't much about the area mind you! Just going by what a friend of mine told me!
