Honestly...heading into the 2011 season you felt more confident.

That's the scary thing. I thought that team was going to be really really good. Maybe they just underachieved or we thought Relf was more than he was, but I think I thought we were going 10-2 that season. There was a lot of wool back then just like now.

I think we are going to be much much better at the QB position this year however, so I don't see us going 6-6 regular season like that year.

Schedule is easier too. Had UGA and South Carolina that year.

2011's team was missing that "it" factor. I was excited about the following season but not particularly excited about that team. 2014's team has dazzling players at several key positions. 2011's team was really about Ballard, LP before he got the trippy feet and Micheal Carr (remember him?).

We have Jameon, Dak, Bear, Josh Robinson, Chris Jones, Calhoun, will Redmond and several others to look forward to this year.

This team has that "It Factor!"

And IT's COMING!

I thought 6-6 the whole time with 2011 and was never confident. Not so this year. Much deeper team especially at skill positions and with an experienced 2 deep defense with play makers all over the place.

Our schedule was brutal in 2011. Three SEC West teams won 11 games that year (2 played in the BCSCG) and we played two 10 win teams from the East. And even though we should've beaten Auburn that year, playing them on the road is always a toss up at best.

I see one definite loss on this year's schedule. We will probably lose more than that, but the schedule doesn't appear to be nearly as daunting.

Can't say that I thought they'd repeat the 9-4 much less 10-2. I thought 8 wins was likely. (The even years are the up years because State plays Bama and LSU away).

But losing the coaches was an omen of not good things to come (not to mention the James Carmen Experiment). Losing the draft picks hurt because they only had one strong recruiting class in the last 7 years.

What hurt us in 2011 was that goal line stop by Auburn. Not to mention the incident with the clearly visible space between the ball and the first down marker....but I digress. Anywho, I think our team (especially Relf) played with that loss on their shoulders the rest of the season. You could just see how the wind had been taken out of their sails by a mediocre Auburn team that everyone around the country thought they could beat. The rest of the schedule was a lot tougher than everyone expected as well. Coming off of a 9-4 season where we beat Michigan, that's the most disappointed I've ever been over the result of a MSU season. That's the only time where I didn't give a rip about our bowl game we played in. I didn't even bother to watch.

I went in to the 11 season wooly but concerned with the offensive line. Going in to this season with a wait and see approach with concerns about the offensive like.

I was very worried about LT going into 2011. It's just a bad sign when you move a senior over from the D-Line to start as your LT. Even then, had we not had any injuries to the O-Line, our year would have looked different. Still have a brutal draw from the East, but just beat Auburn and going 7-5 in a year where you play 4(?) SEC teams with double digit wins isn't too bad of a showing.
