The system has changed radically in the last few years, I'm not sure UK has the resources nor the environment to compete at the absolute upper elite level, given today's climate. I believe Pope is awesome, his energy, passion and care for his players are second to none, I'm just not sure in this construct can the program compete to where it needs to be. Today it's all about maximum exposure, media, and the biggest one, money, just not overly confident UK is in the top 10 when it comes to these type of resources, I'm going to say, we're not, IMO.
So who are the teams of your top 10.....

1. I am sure Duke is in the list with all the top end Fr still flocking there
2. THen who?

Is Florida, Houston, ahead of UK....I would certainly hope not
Is UConn due to Hurley (and when he goes to east coast NBA job....what comes of them?)
Do we really think football schools like Auburn/Bama are head of UK Bball now?

I am questioning Pope still a bit but to argue UK doesn't have resources but Tennessee, Florida, Auburn does....feels wrong to me.

Really, sincerely, not panicking, just asking the question of where things are headed, not as much do with UK as it is the changing landscape.
More to do with the need for fresh blood and a forward thinker in the athletic department. UK has the resources for bball, not sure about football but could do alot better there too.

My guess you are not a UK fan or you need to just go support UofL or someone else, because you seem to be really ignorant when it comes to basketball.

14 of the 16 team in the SEC were proven to have more larger overall sports budgets than UK, someone posted on here last night, within this thread.

I’m not sure how you can look at 3 of the 4 final four teams and not think that is how Pope is trying to build a team/program. People posted the HS/portal rankings for the Florida team, it wasn’t filled with highly sought after guys.

I do think Cal did a number to the brand of UK his last 5 or so years. But that shouldn’t be put on Pope, and I think he did a solid job in year 1. Obviously Pope needs to continue on an upward path, but I’m failing to see how UK is so far behind others. I do know UK hasn’t won anything of much worth lately, but that is more due to the laziness of the previous regime. Even then, it’s not like UK fell off a cliff and died.

Well that is all good but they are going to way spend on football as portion of their pie vs. UK. And UK has 20k arena, way bigger fanbase, NIL support outside of TV revenue, etc....

Unless this is Mitch getting in the way with this stuff.....I just can't see Auburn spending more $$$ on BBall than UK, same for Bama, Ole Miss, UGA, Texas AM, etc....

Not a loser, just a realist, there are at least 20 programs, better resourced than UK and that's probably being overly generous, probably 30+.
There's probably 30+ women hotter than my wife, but I'm not going to go chasing them.
