I want him to be a stud, but fact is he was the 4th leading scorer on a good team that didn't make the NCAA tourney last year. He needs to focus on effort and production if he wants playing time. His stars from high school mean nothing now.

Despite the frenzy created by the MSU homer media when they both came in, he and Watts are role players IMO. It goes without saying that could be a double edge sword.

Watts may be fine with what Howland wants him to do. But to me, he’s going to be the same player at this MSU that he was at the last MSU. Same with Jeffries. He may be cool with where he fits. But there are helicopter Dads and there is his Dad. Something to keep an eye on.

Brooks, on the other hand, can be difference maker. He and Molinar give MSU two go-to guys that can get them through the rough spots. There are enough other guys around them who all bring different things to the table. If those guys can stick with what they do best and not try and be something they aren’t, this could be a really good team.
