You're being pollyanna. It's all about potential viewers. WVU's is tiny in comparison to others...small state with small alumni base etc...poor state...low perceived status...small media footprint etc. Why do you think Rutgers for example is in the Big? We need a miracle and could still get one but definitely are not in a good position.
WVU has achieved top-10 AP rankings in 6 of 7 previous decades (50s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s).
No, we are not ND, Alabama, nor Ohio State. But we would bring respectability and tradition to athletics in any conference.

Looks like the SEC is going to blow up the Big12. Waiting to see if the BIG tries to blow up the ACC. If the BIG could pull in Clemson and Fla State, the ACC would not be so smug. Maybe the SEC wants to get even bigger Since they will have two schools from Texas, why not two schools from Florida, Two from South Carolina? Two 10 team divisions? Intradivision championship? Money would be stupid large. Well, back to the shadows to watch and see what happens.
I'm not that surprised about this. I never felt the Big 12 was going to be a long term solution. Outside of the money this was never an ideal situation. I think will be fine. We have always found a way to land on our feet.
