And the crowd goes same...

I can only imagine the fury that would have been unleashed after such a call at the Dude.

Looked to me like his front foot never touched the plate

The catcher blocked him off and it looked like his foot went over the top of the plate. I think it was the right call.

I believe he was safe and you make a good observation.

That's the difference in passion between ACC and SEC baseball fans.

Didn't notice his foot pop-up the first few times I saw it

I still think he touched the front of the bag, which is what sprung his foot up.

I also noticed that FAU's second baseman made a "safe" call instinctively, which I thought was funny...

Check swing with the bat pointed at the catcher and they call a strike. Now that was horse ****.

And then the same umpire calls a guy out when he was a step past the base when the first baseman caught the ball. The first base ump is shittastic.

That was not obviously a bad call....

the ball beat him by a mile, but it was at best unclear whether the tag was applied first, his foot was actually on the base, etc.

The really bad call came in the top of the ninth during FAU's 6 run barrage. One of FAU's base runners went all the way into the grass to avoid a tag after a grounder to second and they called him safe at second, not calling him out for leaving the base paths. Again, there was minimal reaction from the crowd.

At Dudy Noble, the first call would have gotten the crowd fired up and the second call would have made it explode.
