Probably.

From my understanding the newest is a sequel, not a remake.

The new one also has pretty good reviews.

I plan to check it out.
I noticed that too. I googled it and people really liked the new one. It wasn’t bad. Just some parts to the story that I didn’t understand or didn’t add up.

Midnight Mass, wow. Might actually be better than Flanagan's Haunting of Hill House. Amazing so far.

Not so much scary from the physical sense, like gore or monsters (although that's coming).. but the underlying... religious fanatics, paranoia, isolation. It's almost as much of a drama as it is horror. The acting is superb as well.

I watched "Into the Grizzly Maze" on Netflix.

It's by no means a good or great movie but I was entertained. I like movies with killer bears.

It has an "A" list cast with a "B" list script but I'd still recommend if you like these types of movies.

Just finished the first three episodes. That church lady is a nut job.

Oof, is she ever. Definitely up there with all the religious fanatics in other horror movies, like that Lady from The Mist. I got done with episode 4.

Haven't watch an episode yet, but Squid Game is hot right now.

Just watched the 1st episode last night. I forget that when regular folk think some new horror show or movie is bonkers, that I have a bit more (lot more) of a tolerance for this stuff. I thought it was going to be much worse. But it is still really good, similar to battleroyal (its actually a lot like the game Fall Guys lol), and has some nice humor in it.

But yeah, a few people were like "have you seen Squid Game? Omg so insaneeeee" and in my head I'm thinking "I'll watch that, and you watch 'A Serbian Film'"

I watched Remember Me, a 2017 BBC ghost story starring Michael Palin. It's a bit slow moving but interesting. It's a miniseries, 5 hours or so. The actor who played the king on season one of Game of Thrones, the chubby guy is good as a cop.

Squid Game is really good, in the same vein as Saw or Hostel. Finished it a few nights ago.

Main complaints would be the "anime-ish" dialogue which I guess is just a cultural / translation thing, and the English voice dubs for some of the characters being way over the top / annoying.

Netflix apparently pumping $500 mil into more content from S. Korea, which should bump their English dubbed content % of total to around 95%.

The dubbed dialogue is the only big complaint I have. I wasn't too crazy about the ending either but it wasn't terrible.

The games were all very intense. My favorite was Red Light, Green Light.

My fave horror movies of all time are The Thing and Alien. I'm a sci-fi junkie but these stand the test of time. The Thing is in my Top 10 of any movie. Carpenter is a master here and the F/X still hold up. Highly recommended.

Somehow, I thought I had watched 4 episodes of MM, but only saw 3.. so were at the same spot.

On episode 4, and it's a snoozer so far. A lot of the criticism of this show is that it's too heavy y on monologue and not enough actual "horror". That the middle episodes, when you think its gonna get good, kind of meander. Unfortunately, that's correct. There's what feels like a 30 minute back and forth about death and while it's great acting.. im ready to get on with the story.. You'd almost think this isn't horror at all if not for a few scenes.

Still really like it though.

a little pervy guy in the attic

That's a classic. It's not THE original slasher, but one of a few. Came out a few years before Halloween. Loved the way it was filmed, the visuals, the way the Christmas lights were utilized.

There's something about movies situated in New England during the Fall/Winter that stands out. Especially in horror flicks. Maybe it's my fascination with the Legend Of Sleepy Hollow.

Yeah idk what that is, but I agree. London as well. I think it stems from a Dickens era, late 1800's. Muppet Christmas Carol gives me those cozy vibes hard. And oddly enough, so does Eyes Wide Shut. Lots of horror write-ups on the use of Christmas lights in Black Christmas and Eyes Wide Shut.

Both of those are all-time greats in horror and science fiction.

I put them both in sci-fi due to the alien theme but they are horrifying, too!

I am going to start watching Friday the 13th the TV series today. Has anyone seen it? It seems unrelated to the movie series, but has the same lettering, so maybe it will tie in. I just read that it has no relation to the films.

Just a heads-up but Halloween Kills is releasing on Peacock the same day it's released in theaters.

I hated how they basically gave away 20 of the kills in the trailer. Why do they do this lately? Why give away anything in the trailer, as if they're afraid people won't be enticed.

Adrienne looked pretty damn good in the original Fog. Have no clue what she looks like now.

Like the TV show from the late 80s? Forgot all about that

Not expecting much. Agree they give away too much in these trailers. Watched the last one in the theatre and remember when it was over was not sure if I was the only one who did not like it and I asked a few couples near us and they all agreed it was a disappointment.

I thought the 2018 Halloween was great. Curious to hear why some didn't like it. Great cinematography and sound, from the well done 4-min tracking shot to that awesome electric guitar sound FX when Myers is revealed. A large number of kills. It was pretty original in my eyes. Sure, the crazy replacement for Loomis was iffy, but it was for sure better than Halloween 5, 6, resurrection and.. those god-awful Rob Zombie remakes. Speaking of which..

It's pretty obvious I love almost every horror movie.. but Rob Zombie is garbage to me (pretty sure I said that in this thread years back). I didn't like a single one of his movies. It was somewhat fun to see Dwight get axed in House of 1000 Corpses, but that's about the peak for Rob Zombie in my eyes.

I'm a huge fan of the original Halloween movie.

And some of the sequels. The most recent is by far the rest.

I'm hoping Kills is good but you never know.

I've watched all the "Halloween" movies and even though some are trash I still get eager to see them.

The Rob Zombie films has potential but his style just doesn't fit the series AT ALL.

Wife and I watched Night Of The Living Dead tonight (1968). I forgot how graphic it was for its day. George Romero made the film on a shoestring budget.

We watched "Just Before Dawn" tonight.

It's low budget, made in 1981, "starring" George Kennedy.

In today's terms is average at best, but if you like raw, low budget horror from the late 70's / early 80's you will love it.

I love those types of movies but they aren't for everyone..

Wretched my back something serious on Monday, basically been sleeping 18 hour days on muscle relaxers, so I'm very behind on my Horror movie viewing. Still on Episode 6 of Midnight Mass, Episode 1 of Squid Game. I did watch the new Candyman. It was decent. A little preachy, of course.. but like most other horror movies in recent years, it was well made.

I watched Censor last night. From 2021. It was good. A woman works as a movie censor. Her sister disappeared when they were kids, and she sees a movie in which the same thing happens, and begins to suspect the actress is her sister. Good if you like Hereditary type horror, with a crazy, crazy ending.

For me, I think some of it was just having too high expectations. I get that they tried to re-create some scenes like the original Halloween but just seemed like they tried too hard. As mentioned before, the trailers gave a lot of it away so when I went see it, it felt like I had already seen the movie because of all the trailers. Maybe it is just older age or whatever but the movie fell flat for me. Expect the new one to maybe be better but looks like a gore fest which is not what the original Halloween was about. It was more psychological than gore.
