USC and us were neck and neck for hosting spot entering this weekend. Both teams went on the road to face top 5 teams. They won their series and we got swept. We are on the outside looking in now. We're not done, but we have to win three series against teams that all have better sec records than us. Not likely...

Our only hope is that the SEC gets 4 host spots. Which they may get.

3 spots and we're done. 4 spots we're in. I think that's what it basically boils down to. UF may not be quite out of the picture yet either.

Florida starts a huge series thurs at lsu. We need lsu to win that series

The Bears might be what's standing in our way. They got swept by Vandy, but lost 3 games by a total of 4 runs, whereas we lost 3 games by 10. And they'll have us at home. Not that home games mean much to them, when they don't seem to fill half the seats.

It will be interesting to see how RPI plays into it. We dropped from #8 to #11 by getting swept by the #2 team. If we can stay in that range we should have a shot at hosting.

Hopefully if our RPI stays in the top 10-15 the committee will notice that we didn't get to play Tennessee, Missouri, and Georgia and pile up easy wins. Those 3 teams have by the far the 3 worst RPI's in the SEC at #80, #117, and #150.

Dude, you know I like you, but you are absolutely flipping the 17 out over this, and blowing it WAY out of proportion. We do NOT have to win all 3 series to host. We may end up having to, but as of right now we don't.

All we need to do is win against Bama while USC loses to Vandy, and then go from there. If we take care of Bama, we are right back to where we were. USC doesn't matter to us right now, because a National Seed is now gone. We can and probably will get 4 host sites. LSU, Vandy, USC, and MSU are the leaders right now for those.

Just calm down. Nobody in America thought we would go in to Vandy and win the series, so we are 1 game off of what logical people even thought we could do this weekend. We Are Fine.

Arkansas is 13-7 in the sec with Kentucky, tenn, and auburn left. They could easily be 19-10.

Florida is 12-9. They have lsu, auburn, and Georgia. They should win 2 outta 3 series and be 17-13.

If we lose one more series and win the other 2, we'll be 15-15. I don't think we host with that. We could but I doubt it

Arkansas RPI is #54. I think it will be hard for them to get it above #40 even if they finish 19-10.

Florida could be a factor, especially if they win 2 against LSU.

I understand Arkansas' rpi is bad, but 9 games over .500 is very impressive. If they sweep one of those series and get to 20-9, I think they have a great shot even with low rpi.

We just don't know how the committee will handle things. Ark's RPI is low partially because their SEC schedule is so soft. Will they 'punish' them for having a soft SEC schedule? Ark can't control it. At the same time, they'll have more SEC wins because of it. There has never been as big of a gap between the toughest and weakest SEC schedules. How will the committee view that?

We'll find out together.

Ark has dropped some games to opponents they didn't need to lose too as well.

It will be very interesting to see how this pans out. I actually think UF is in the drivers seat right now for the 4th host spot (assuming there is a 4th host spot from the SEC).

No SEC team has ever hosted in the current system(since 1999) with an RPI worse than #22. I don't care what their conference record is -- if they don't make the RPI top 25, which will be nearly impossible for them, they have virtually zero chance of hosting.

Arky's schedule is "soft" because they played 13 games against teams with a sub-200 RPI -- and managed to lose two of them. That's what is going to prevent them from hosting -- has less to do with their SEC record/schedule. Their SEC schedule just isn't strong enough to allow them to make up ground from scheduling terribly in the nonconference...
