Okay, so the family and I are headed to mighty Orange Beach. I have three young'uns and can't bear to drive the entire way in one swing. The 'Burg be about halfway. Anybody have any hotel suggestions that are family friendly (read: not funky) and on either 49 or 59?

To make it sports related, one word: Nitchampsburg.

Thanks in advance, y'all.

to Hattiesburg. OK, maybe 3 if you drive 55? Give them a sugar sweetened drink and some candy. You will be there shortly.

Right off of 59. Take the hardy st exit. and you see it on your left. Great rooms and good rates.

You are right. Only 150 miles. That's a max of 3 hours even if you drive like meemaw. Save the hotel $ and buy your kids some junk at the beach if they shut up for the drive down.

I obviously wasn't complete in my question:

1. I'm a veterinarian that often has to anesthetize 2000 lb bulls in the field; Benadryl is for sissies.
2. We are leaving after work at around 5:30, so I'm going to be lucky to get to the 'Burg without the kids killing me or mama (coming from DeSoto county.)

I don't want to stay in Jackson and don't know much about the towns betwixt there and Hattiesburg. Other suggestions?

Thx PineBelt; I was considering that one but wasn't sure.

The Hilton Garden Inn is good and Baymont Suites is pretty good and inexpensive, both are right off I-59 on 98 W.

PineBeltReb is right, take the 59 Bypass when you get to Stuckeys, take the Hardy St exit and stay at the Hampton Inn, clean, relatively new, decent price.

Go to the lounge and ask for Sammy the bartender. Pray that it's karaoke nite and Sammy will come out from behind the bar and favor you with a selection.

I travel a lot and stay in Hburg from time to time. I would suggest the Hilton Garden Inn or the Hampton Inn and request an inside room. They're right off 59 so it's an easy stop.

Both right off the Hardy Street exit and near several bland family-friendly chain restaurants (Chili's, Applebees, O'Charleys). Don't stay off the 49 exit.</p>

59 can be backed up like a sumbitch. better know the back roads.

but that just makes your point i guess. unless you're gonna get up and go at 5am, you're not saving any time.

Hilton Garden or Hampton it is. I'd just as soon sleep at a truck stop, but those of you with a wife and small kids know where I'm coming from.

Thanks again!
