Intersection of I 55 and 302 in Southhaven- Horn Lake several decent hotels, eating choices and a mall and other shopping choices. Only 15 minute or so ride in to LB.

I'm coming in from the North and plan to stay at Millington. There is a fairly new Holiday Inn Express and Hampton.

I'll 2nd what these guys said.

Poplar/240 area and east to Perkins/poplar is a good option with plenty of shopping in a safe area. I would recommend this area if you want more of a "Memphis" feel.

Southaven i55/Goodman has nice hotels and plenty of chain restaurants and shopping. Suburbia. No bad options there but East of I55 is best. There is a new Hilton home2suites there by the mall. Also a nice Holiday Inn near the mall.

I agree with the suggestions of the Poplar/240 area. Safe area with a number of hotels, lots of shopping close by, and probably no more than 15 mins. to Liberty Bowl. Hampton on Poplar would have free breakfast. There's also an Embassy Suites and Hampton a bit further east that would have free breakfast but be slightly less convenient to liberty bowl.

Also a Hilton Garden Inn Behind JC Penny's

You've probably already guessed this based on the responses that you've gotten, but you're not going to find what you're looking for right by the stadium. Don't get me wrong. It's not the worst part of Memphis and there are actually a couple high end residential areas right by it, but there's not much in terms of hotels or shopping.

If you're good with the standard food chains and strip malls, Southaven's not a bad option, but my advice would be to try to find something in the East Memphis area. There are several nice hotels such as the ones that have already been mentioned in this thread, and then you'll have places like Buckley's, Corky's, Huey's, The Blue Plate Cafe, and Napa Cafe(I think it's still open) all within a couple miles. There's a lot in that area.

One last word of advice... Do not even think about getting on to 240 East at any point while you're in Memphis. There's major construction going on there, and it's just a mess.
