...I also enjoyed Mutt starting a thread about whether or not we should play USM. Mutt used to rule that place.

And I also just noticed that dawgstudent made an appearance.

Down page 1 of the old free board is a Bulldog Backer "recap" of the first quarter of the 2001 egg bowl. He posted this on June 4, 2001.

I see my old handle on there several times...

I also see RonnyAtmosphere on there as we once knew him... Cowbell Mel. At least, I'm pretty sure that was him.

MARCUS CAMPBELL (Signed with MSU) - 7-0, Center, Westover HS (Albany, Ga.). One of the top 25 centers in the nation. Very good offensive player who only needs to work on his defensive skills. Top 100 type player. Help lead his team to the state championship in their classification. Should have an immediate impact his freshman year.

..more like OCD. However, I did love to mess with some of the sheeple over there when it came to playing USM in Jackson. Today? No way. Memorial Stadium is a dump, and it'd take about $100 million just to bring it up to the quality of VH, Scott field, and even M. M. Roberts.

As for in-State schools, I say we play Jackson State, Alcorn, and MS Valley on a rotating basis as first game of the year. Should be an easy win (notice I say "should"), keep money in-State, generating interest in an otherwise low-revenue Division I-AA game, and we get to watch the bands at halftime (memo to MState band-when their bands are scheduled to play, keep your "Tribute to Cole Porter" down to just the short version of "Rhapsody in Blue").</p>
