I heard there was a report the shooter asked before opening up if the victims were Democrat or Republicans? Not sure if that's been confirmed, but it's what at least one of the eyewitnesses reportedly said.

So if that report is true, safe to assume this nut job didn't like Republicans.

I have a hard time believing that, it just seems too juicy of a detail to actually be true.

And if true they fired ~100 shots there is no way they were going around asking people what party they were affiliated with.

Kinda like someone being able to say with certainty that 50-100 shots have been fired...facts become a little more concrete with passing of time and people can sort out things out.

A representative, can't remember his name said he and a colleague were leaving a few minutes before the shooting happened and a man approached them and asked if it were republicans or democrats out there.

Just watched a shooting witness on the local DC NBC News station. He said a guy came up earlier before the shooting started and asked if it was a Dem or Repub practice.

Exactly. Team Hillary had this scouted out long ago. They knew who was at that field.
Nah not a Billary hit...they're much more sophisticated than that...they make it look like suicide...or someone goes down in a plane but has a neat little hole in the back of their head...or they make it look like a mugging but nothing is stolen.

I thought the same thing, but the guy who said it is all over talk radio this morning relaying that story.

I heard it on Salem radio network about an hour ago. (Hugh Hewitt show)

Could be this person has issue with the sport of baseball.... or the Congressman was screwing their spouse.

CNN reporting...sources are calling (it) an apparent "deliberate attack."

Spot on analysis...

Is there a such thing as an accidental attack?
There are such things as random attacks. I hate to get in the way of a good CNN bash, but this is the way LE speaks in general and how they did speak about this incident. CNN was quoting, not analyzing.

Described as a 40-50 year old with dark hair, white skin and blue shirt.
3 options here:

1. Just some crazy nut

2. Disenfranchised GOP person seeking to prove a point to the RINOs. Likely Trump supporter. Manifesto posted to FB within the last week.

3. Crazy from the left, least likely, IMO.

Isn't #1 a given? Instead of staying there though, I'm sure we will deep dive through his social media accounts to draw conclusions to support our favored party.

The dude was a nut. And, thankfully, a bad shot.

I think your 2nd and 3rd options are subsets of the first one.

on a related but not as important note - I didn't know we had a congressional baseball team(s).

For some reason, I bet it's a soft ball game. Most of those charity games are soft ball.

Honest question of semantics here. When does one go from being a crazy nut to an armed combatant? I guess, equating it to history, were the Confederates, crazy nuts? Or the Sons of Liberty?

I separate this a little from something like Sandy Hook. This imo is a legit target (not agreeing with it), it's not just some random attack. This is an actual attack on our Govt. IMO, I think that separates it from being some random nut case. Is he crazy? By our definitions, sure. Isn't that relative though? What if this sparks the Brushy Bill fantasy? Is he still a nut? What if their side wins? Would he still be a nut in their version of scripted history? This one just feels different on the surface which is why I listed it out how I did.

That's the argument the BLM fanatics were making, that the police are legitimate targets.

This one is a baseball game played at the park where the Nats play. Many moons ago I played on a softball team that was in the Congressional league. We played in Anacostia Park. That was a place where you worried about accidental shootings.

Fanatics is a word I'm fine with using. Crazy, meh, again, I say it's relative. Maybe, in my mind, what separates crazy from fanatical is the target? I don't know. Is a shaheed crazy or just fanatical? Or both?

This happened at the field where my son plays his LL games. We've been there 15X in the past month.

Solid point. I'm not ready to change my definition of crazy just yet though. If this was a group of gunmen, I think you get closer to your point. If this was a coordinated attack against more than one group of representatives, I would think that tooo. This was one nut, at least for now.

That's scary. The motive looks like it was political right now, but it may have just been random luck that the shooter happened on this group instead of another.
