Just watched a CUSA season preview on CBSC. They have a lot of offense coming back, including a QB that chunked it for 5000 yards last year. I know its CUSA but that can't be good for our questionable secondary.
Yep. In 2007, CUSA had the NCAA's top two running backs. Kevin Smith at UCF had 2,567 yards rushing, averaging 183 yards per game and 5.7 yards per rush, and Matte Forte at Tulane had 2,127 yards rushing, averaging 177 ypg and 5.9 yards per carry. We played them both, and held them to 119 yards (on 35 carries) and 47 yards.biguglykidjoe said:CUSA teams in total defense for 2008
41. ECU
43. UCF
57. Memphis
65. USM
74. Tulsa
84. Tulane
100. Houston
102. Marshall
106. UAB
111. Rice
115. UTEP
118. SMU
8 of the 12 defenses are ranked #74 or worse, 6 of those are ranked #100 or worse. I made the same point when we played UCF in the Liberty Bowl and people were predicting that Kevin Smith would run for 250 yds and 3 tds against us. I said there was no way based on this very reason. For the most part, CUSA is defense poor. Not saying we should chalk it up as a W mind you.
