Great call by Coach K....The boys looked really aggressive playing zone and Louisville had trouble adjusting. Thought Harry and Marques gave us some good minutes on the interior of it...

I see what you're saying. He's the best of all time, but sometimes your way just ain't working and something different is needed. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over yet expect different results.Great coaching about time
That's what I have been saying. Just because K hasn't tried it, or something else, doesn't mean it won't work. Some argued the point I was trying to make. And it worked!!! Served a purpose, weren't stopping them with man, and the zone and Allen's gutsy play were the difference. Big 2nd half by Kennard and Tatum as well. So glad to see Grayson play with a positive edge. Go Duke!! Also good to see Bolden in there for a few

Hart, we all love and know the game. K knows more than we've forgot, but we would be on plane back to Durham had he not thought outside of HIS way of thinking. His way normally is right, but not all the time. He is the GOAT but doesn't walk on waterGREAT CALL ON THE ZONE MAC!!! Just what the doctor ordered! OFC
Ask Hart if he was being sarcastic. Facts are facts. A couple people here, and they know who they are, told me I was wrong to suggest K do something a mere poster would suggest. One of them even now posted the zone worked! Wow!You must have ducked when that sarcasm was coming through

Not a big revelation sir. Just an observation that you and another Hall Monitor didn't want to hear. I never said it was a guarantee to work but today yes it served a purpose. The zone slowed them down, I don't care how, but it did. You are correct though on your last sentence that 3 kids played like stars.Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back.
I didn't say you were wrong to suggest anything. I said that K probably has had his reasons as to why it wouldn't work, in his opinion. Today it worked. You thinking this was some big revelation you had is humorous. We've played zone before today, this season. It wasn't very successful until today. I'm happy it worked. Louisville being a below-average shooting team and not making free throws helped too. The zone wasn't the difference we won today. It played a part, but we don't get to play tomorrow just because of the zone. We're playing tomorrow because Louisville missed some opportunities and because three kids named Grayson, Luke and Jayson played like stars down the stretch.

I think the three you noted played huge roles as you mention, but I think the zone played a huge difference we won as well. Louisville was shredding us in the paint as K referenced in a post game comment before we made the switch.

Louisville's offense looked like ours at the beginning of the game....the zone messed with them. Even though it produced some wide open looks, their shots looked hurried and they didn't look to penetrate. UNC is the kind of team you could utilize it in spurts against tomorrow....but you can't give them the second chances we gave Louisville or we can't win.
Need to stick with zone until Duke is playing a team that can beat the zone!Great call by Coach K....The boys looked really aggressive playing zone and Louisville had trouble adjusting. Thought Harry and Marques gave us some good minutes on the interior of it...

UNC can beat the zone. All four bigs have nice jumpers with the exception of Meeks his is off and Jackson has a nice floater. But we will see tomorrowNeed to stick with zone until Duke is playing a team that can beat the zone!
Not sure about that. He made the change yes, and it served the purpose. Maybe if he ran it earlier, Duke wouldn't have fell behind by double digits. We don't know. The point is it slowed down their penetration. I don't care what defense he runs, fact is right now Dukes man d isn't a lock down d, and K saw that today to win he needed to do something elseCoach K did the right thing waiting to the second halve to make the change to zone. The Cards had 1 time out and their best shooter on the bench with 4 fouls. If you make the move too early they have time to figure it out and recover.

Yeah just saw it and edit the post. Duke played zone at the beginning of the year. I also think toward the end of the first having Giles in there with Amile then going with Bolden helped to.Haha, "the 4 P-I-G-S," lol???

I'd like to see more of Giles and Bolden but I would also like to think K sticks with Allen coming off the bench which is really helping, imo with his health.Giles and Bolden both had their moments today....

Tomorrow will be a battle
You guys might be right but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Grayson starting. Jones played 23 minutes today, 0 points, 1 rebound
Exactly. Blueprint for anyone beating Louisville is go zone. But hopefully we get Mac and Hart a first class flight over to the BK so they can fill in the coaching staff, that never considered playing zone before, (even though they have the last three years against Louisville) and let them know it works against a team that has zero good shooters. But hey I'm just a hall monitor! The 2/3 zone was great against the UL bricklayers. Maybe a 3/2 against UNC, with Amile and Bolden sharing the paint? Matt on the left, Frank up top.
