How can the State host debate but not NCAA tournaments?

The NCAA should be embarrassed for prohibiting Mississippi to host pre-determined pre-/postseason sporting events. Is there any basis for a lawsuit against those bastards?

If it makes you feel any better, the state of Mississippi wouldn't ever host a pre-determined NCAA event even without the ban.

I really can't imagine a situation where that would happen.

If I remember correctly MSU was supposed to host some games for a preseason basketball tournament but we had to play in Birmingham due to the flag.

If you were going to build an arena or facility in Jackson or another area of the state such as Starkville or Oxford don't you think you would at least like the ability to bid on such events?

What prevented the commission on debates from having the same policy? Surely the idea of hosting a presidential debate was tossed around during the development of the Ford Center. A similar policy would have stripped one possible advantage of the building and could have lead to the development not taking place. Similarly, a new arena in Jackson, which is undoubtedly needed, would be limited before its first cornerstone laid.

I wonder what Croom's thoughts are on the state flag?

The tournament had wanted MSU to host the first two rounds, but the NCAA rule blocked it, so Birmingham Southern hosted at the BJCCC. It was pretty strange going to games in a 20,000 seat arena in Birmingham where most of the crowds of 5,000 or so were MSU fans. I do see on this year's basketball schedule that we're scheduled to host the first two rounds of the Legend's tournament. Not sure what's up with that.
