This thing ain’t over yet.

We are likely closer to beating this than anyone other than Sweden. Sweden took a beating in nursing homes, but their general population has done well - and their less stringent and more free living guidelines are going to pay dividends.

This virus beat down the American politicians...and I’d blame that on the American media and their display. Unreasonable expectations, misinformation or overhyping of incorrect assumptions has played a huge role into the reaction of politicians. This can be shown in many polls - some showing that Americans believed 9% of US citizens had died from C19, and 18-34 year olds believed they had a 20% chance of dying if infected.

However - the American people may have led us into great position. The northeast hammered early, has low potential for large outbreak...the sunbelt is now over its peak case bump and close to, if not over its hospitalization peak...which will in turn lower those areas potential for outbreak. The Midwest has been slow and steady - cities have been hit and the slow burn continues - outbreak potential low, slow longer burn likely.

Other countries may have to go through more torture...again, this ain’t over and the results are not in. We have shaken the coke bottle and popped the top in many areas....other countries have the coke, that fell to the floor in hand...what are they going to do about it?

Yep, everyone one of these idiots that makes a presumptive predictions it always fails. No since trying to write the book on it yet.

As for the article it wasn't that bad once you realize it's heavily biased against Trump, doesn't criticize anyone from the other party, talks about protests but didn't explain their part in the spread or loosening of lockdown, when mentioning other countries that had issues leaves out a few convenient omissions, and ties it together with systematic racism within a crumbling health care system. It's about 25/75 quality to hyperbole, imo.

“While countries as different as South Korea, Thailand, Iceland, Slovakia, and Australia acted decisively”

So, so different.

Biden will probably win and the pandemic will still exist. Really has far less to with politics than any of the pundits admit. But it’s 100% a threat to American prosperity and the world order in long run. No reason to be Pollyanna about it.

If you don’t think government decisions, especially at the state level, and the manipulation of data isn’t political, the you are incredibly naive.

I find it hilarious how some people who hung onto every lie this President told the American public about this virus, its origin, our preparedness, how he had no help from former administration, his various snake oil remedies some that would be fatal, his recommendations of drugs, proclamations of how he had control over it, how it would not be more than 15 cases, how it would just go away,--- and then these same naive and easily fooled marks the great con man leads by the nose, claim it's the media's fault. You truly cannot fix stupid.

Should be changed to "how Andrew cuomo failed his state and let the virus over take america"

It's been absurd this whole time watching ppl who keep crying believe the science while simultaneously buying into talking points bc it fits their political agenda.

NY and NJ did the opposite of flattening the curve...they let happen what flattening the curve was supposed to prevent.

I'm sure its been a coincidence theres been intense focus on FL, TX,and AZ...3 battleground states with republican governors and im supposed to believe they arent trying to flip them at all. You know since NY, with a smaller population, has had more deaths in a week than tx and Florida have the entire pandemic. Or that NJ has a higher death rate than AZ. AZ has more seniors than NJ too. Arent close to 40% of deaths in the tri-state area of NY, NJ, CT? California...has there even been a news story on their disaster even with the most extreme lockdowns of all?

And its not political as far as just R vs. D response. Mississippi has the worst death rate of any republican ran state....not one story on it. You know why? The state isn't up for grabs to be flipped...so no care.

And I'm not even covering how the virus supposedly cares about social justice.

This kind of stupid really. Nobody intentionally breathes a virus in, or gets shot, or is hurt in an automobile accident. You even have to go to a doctor for a remedy. I mean really just a little bit of thinking will get you past this silly statement statement.

Yeah and I still go outside to drive and breath knowing the risk. Viruses existing isn’t the presidents fault.

You lost any shred of credibility on this issue that you may have ever had when you failed to address the protests and riots as a potential threat to spread the virus.

I think it’s the fact that the media, during a time when people need some reassurance, are doing their part to further scare and divide Americans. I am disappointed.

If you (Levi) can’t see what the problem with such alarmism is, you don’t understand human psychology. The media’s job is to inform. They have, because of traditional print media suffering, switched to a shock value model, which ignores the negative social repercussions of its work. It literally will spin positive news into negative news. That’s dangerous for everyone bc people need to hear they’re not evil, their country’s not evil, and that things *eventually* will be okay, even if there’s no guarantee that they will be. The media, right now, go above and beyond to beat people down, while they also divide them.
Time to freaking come together as a country!

Jobless aside, there were opportunities for many people to make money on this. No gas fill-ups, no vacations, no dining out. Again, if you kept your employment and DIDN'T make/save money on this, you're a GD idiot and your relentless spending is the same problem our government has. Both of you deserve what you get.

The article was fair; the title is click-bait alarmism. What do you think that does? Yes, we have screwed this up, but it doesn’t mean our great experiment in democracy is over, and it seems like every media outlet wants you to think that because Trump is president, America is no longer America. I think we’ll end up being fine.
