Kind of fishy that he couldn't make the qualifying score and now that he has signed as a Black Bear he somehow makes a 24 on the ACT. Did he cheat or did he just get some good tutoring and stay focused and finally apply himself??? You make the call......

Madison Central is a pretty good school, and he has several family members in college so I don't seehow a 24 in the ACT is so shocking.

Plus as we have learned on the Pack for many, many years, almost every poster that posts on here, scored at least a 30 on the ACT while drunk off their *** so a 24 seems pretty pedestrian.

I took the ACT 4 times. I was valedictorian of my high school and I graduated with 117 people.

Here's my ACT test results:
1) Fall of Junior year - Made 22. Very disappointed in this.
2) Spring of Junior year - Made 25. Better, but still wanted more. Math scores were good, english/reading comp bad.
3) Fall of Senior year - Another 25. Another disappointment.
I then took an ACT prep class.
4) Spring of Senior year - Made 27. Still disappointed with this, as I saw other kids, whom I considered my self intellectually equal with making 30+ scores. The 27 atleast allowed me to go to MSU now that out of state tuition was waived.

For a kid to notmake a qualifying score and then make a 24, 1 of 2 things had to happen.
1) His non-qualifying score had to have been made without him reading any questions. He simply went into the test and filled in the circles with his #2 pencil.
2) He cheated or had help.

You decide.

It was common knowledge that he had not made a qualifying score on the ACT and was probably going to have to go to JUCO. Then he signs with TSUN and BOOM he makes a 24.

First, just love your post. Im assuming valedictorian will be underneath your name in a manner of minutes.

Second,
Spring of Senior year - Made 27. Still disappointed with this, as I saw other kids, whom I considered my self intellectually equal with making 30+ scores.
I have readhard data that you weren't intellectually equal. Maybe that is why you scored a 27;

Finally, you do understand that he may have made a 22 before, and that it was his GPA was too low for his previous score to make him a full qualifier, and that his ACT score jump moved two points making him a qualifier, using the sliding scale. Hey, what am I doing, Im sure you know all of this, Im talking to someone that was a valedictorian of his high school.

until after it became clear he would sign with OM. In fact, I'd venture to guess that everyone here (myself included) had the attitude that he was not a grade risk at all when it looked like he was seriously considering MSU. He signs with OM, board does a 180 on his grades and whatnot.

That said, I'm sure they hired him a tutor and perhaps he actually took it seriously.

Can we have one of these threads for every OM player that qualifies? Pretty please. It's common knowledge that every one of their signees is a sure fire academic casualty after all, so we must cue the outrage whenever they get good news. We should hire some PIs to look into this. Definitely fishy*.

*They got Powe into school, are you really shocked and outraged right now?

Especially when he was allegedly leaning MSU's way. I don't remember any MSU fans saying, "It looks good for Singleton, but it doesn't matter because he is going to JUCO". Now there may have been a few posts talking about his academics, but it was mainly talking about how Mullen had broken into Madison Central and taken a top player out of one Ole Miss' top pipelines, same with South Panola and Brassell.

At the end of the day, it really won't affect this season. Ole Miss' season this year doesn't hang on Singleton, and MSU has plenty of WR's to get the job done.

Even when we thought Mullen might get Singleton, it was viewed as a risk.

But hey, UM got Perfessers Strong and Powe qualified. Singleton should have been easy by comparison.

Hell, I made a 27 and my wife made a 32. I'm no rocket surgeon, but I do know that standardized tests aren't that difficult.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that the guy scores 24. Jeez... build a bridge and get over it people.

achievement. If my sources are correct this represents nearly a 10 point increase over his last score. I hope he is successful but I would imagine he may be asked to take it again or Bears may lawyer up again.

And yes, I realize that in some rural counties in Mississippi the valedictorian is lucky to get a 20.

I can't believe anyone would be surprised when a prospect does what is necessary to get into Ole Miss.

He almost sends out a warning. He pops his head into people's offices and says "Hey! Let me borrow a section of the paper that you don't want back!" just loud enough for everyone to hear... he's a gentleman like that.

he cheated. According to folks at MC, including, but not limited to, folks in the football program, he was a longshot to qualify. My daughter had a class with him last year and she says his attendance was less than stellar. He was always leaving the class because he had to go "see Coach Hall".

is how many points he jumped from his last test. It's a sliding scale depending on the current player's GPA, but a player has got to have at least 14 to qualify and that is with practically a perfect GPA. More than likely Tobias had to get a 15 ACT. Since he obviously hadn't made a 15 yet, he did have at least a <span style="font-weight: bold;">10 point jump.

Grades and ACT scores aren't always correlative. My ACT was higher than that and I'm not sure I was in the top 50 in my class, gpa-wise. I guess my teachers were right when they said I was a gross underachiever in the classroom. Technically, yes, I'm intellectually superior to almost everyone else, but I didn't give enough of a **** to try very hard in school. Consequently, I killed standardized tests but never did homework or anything unfun like that. <div>

My father employs mchs kids and they say he is a moron. That paired with him hanging out the window yelling at the news camera leavin courtjust verifies it for me. Plus, Iplayed atmc with 3 um signees . they were class of 01 and two were not academic risk. One of them (who is actually a good dude) is a complete moron who couldnt speak a complete senence if his life depended on it. He took the act last possible time he could take it and made a 23. He didnt even go to regular classes, he was with the slobbering kids. He never made it to um but this is enough for me to assume that t manning had some help.</p>

Seems totally possible. I have no idea actually. Jumping from a 20 or 21 to a 24 isn't that big of a deal to me. Then again I wasn't my school's valedictorian.

Also, I think they allow you to take your best section from each test as well.

I guess its possible he had a 2.0 GPA in his core classes and needed over a 22 or over to be eligible, and lo and behold he did it. All the hard work paid off. Who knows.

And it is multiple guess. Hell you can just about make a 13 without the test booklet. I went in unprepared as a junior and made 26. It was a good enough score for me so I said to hell with taking it again. I was going to MSU for accounting and I wasn't out to impress anyone.
