how did Slive "talk us down" today ?

between games. He first said , and I'm paraphrasing, that they believed that Florida, Ole Miss, and "to some degree Mississippi State" should receive consideration. He went on to say something to the effect that Kentucky has been down the past few years and we need to take care of the teams that took over the torch for SEC basketball, like Florida, "and some other teams." Again, I am paraphrasing, but it was clear the intent was there that he felt Florida should be in, and State not so much. Fast forward to today with Florida getting a 10 seed, and it is apparent that he deliberately pushed Florida to the committee. They were as good as in Friday. We were as good as out, unless we won the whole thing. He may have made other comments, but this interview is what I saw and thought was dishonorable on his part.

With them as a 10, it's obvious they were comfortably in, and shouldn't have been. It doesn't take much to read between the lines that a powerful conference commish can "suggest" one of his teams over another, which his tv comments obviously insinuated.
to pull his strings. He wouldn't have the weight with the committee to push an SEC team over a non-SEC team, but he very much could "encourage" one SEC team (who he specifically said should be taken care of on tv) over another SEC team who "to some degree" should be considered.
