We were walking the dog around the block when I tripped and stumbled, which spooked our dog and I ended up falling out into the street. I rolled back up unhurt but my wife 'bout died. She laughed hard.

probably the same reason he ***** himself a couple of times a year. Disability FTL

I've been in two really bad wrecks, one where the other driver died. I also swallowed a peanut when I was an infant that collapse my lung. My mom did for on me until the ambulance arrived and that saved my life.

A BIL choked to death on a peanut. Don't ask me how that could happen but it did. He was about 14.

Funny, but similar thing happened to me over at Snowmass. Wasn't XX, but wasn't paying attention on a curve, lost balance & a ski & went head first into aspen grove but missed them all. Pre-helmets times too.

BTW, were you on Xmas Tree?

I was on Jackpot. Long, hard fall. I've skied Snowmass 50-60 times. Great Mountain! Huge. I've only skied Ajax 4-5 times but I've had some weird experiences on that mountain. Once was caught in a white-out for about 2 hours. Literally couldn't see 12 inches in front of your face. Found a ski lift pole, sat down and just had to wait it out. Freaky feeling.

[laughing] -- yeah Willy, you big *****, why didn't you just execute a simple disarm and make your assailant get on his knees? It's so easy even a bartender could do it...

I've been watching this special on CTE. Out of 111 ex NFL players studied..all but 1 had it. Scary Sh-t
I'm not saying that playing in the NFL is without risk, but remember that the brains that were studied were from people/families that had concerns. In other words, it's a biased study.

Seriously, some major highlights:

PanAm 103 end of '88: Reserved a seat, but cancelled, and changed to 2 weeks later. I seriously owe 1SG Milton May my life for that one.

Desert Storm, '91: Back-end of a fratricide (friendly-fire) incident. Many other incidents occurred around that time.

Balad AB, Iraq, January '06: Mortar attack. Round impacted ~30 yards (10 m) from my position. Lots of other near-misses over there.

Numerous other minor incidents due to father/other relatives.

5 years old. Cousin Bob jumped in and saved my butt from drowning in a South Carolina lake.

5 years old. Dad's pistol went off and missed both of us, especially my head, by inches.

Burbach, Germany, 1986: Aimed a supposedly unloaded pistol at a wall-locker and, guess what? Bang! It went off.

UH-60 helicopter collision with at tree at Fort Campbell in '81.

Walking through a known, marked Israeli minefield minefield in '82. A couple months later, two fellow soldiers were blown up in the same minefield looking for souvenirs. When we're young, we're invincible.

Worked as a rafting guide in West Virginia for five years. You wouldn't believe the amount of pussies that go rafting and think they are going to die after a brief swim. Notice, the stories are all the same yet they are all alive to still talk about it.

Well I was 13, jagoff.

Fun fact:
even though I was a "*****" for being scared when I got stuck beneath an underwater rock at age 13, I never got a tramp stamp.

Some of you all need to seriously consider carrying. I always have at least a knife on me.

Willy, why did you get down in the execution position? Never understood why people would do that.

Hahaha man, ummm, i had a .45 in my face and another guy who had a .38 or a .45 (couldn't quite tell) to my ex wife's head. They put us both down in the execution position. They then had two guns to the back of our heads

Never understood why people think they are heroes. I'm living and she's living. The biggest weapon that night was my persuasive mouth.

Rogue, i know you are a total bad *** and you'd gone John Rambo. But even if i had a gun it would've done no good. Because she would've been dead.

22, I was driving a work truck for the Ky State parks with a co worker in the passenger seat. We had picked the truck up at the rest area in Florence and were headed to the rest area on the other side of the highway.

We had to get off at the Richwood Exit and head back north to get there. At any rate, as I am ready to get off the exit I tap the brake to slow down. Well, what no one had told us was the trucks brakes had been cut to do repairs. Uh, absolutely no brakes whatsoever. If you know this particular exit, it's straight downhill.

This was happening so fast and we are picking up speed, and at the end of the ramp is a semi waiting for the light to turn. My co-worker instinctively grabs the will for some reason, which of course wasn't going to help this very bad situation. Remember, this is 1987 or so, and neither of us are wearing seat belts.

At this point, about halfway down the ramp, the light turns, and a thousand thoughts are going through my mind, I decide that our only option is to go through the intersection and try to make a sharp turn to go up the ramp that goes south from the exit, but now we're going so fast that I realize I would flip the truck if I turned the wheel that sharply going this fast.

So, we fly through the light and through the intersection toward a big ditch on the other side.
The truck goes airborne, and the next thing I hear is the breaking of glass and the loud sound of metal.

I realize I am on the ground, and I look back and see the truck totally demolished. I don't know how bad I'm hurt, and I'm feeling my face, checking for blood. I'm also looking for my coworker.

Now, I'm starting to realize that I'm bleeding from my face, but I'm not in a lot of pain. About this time I start to yell for my buddy. Tons of people are now arriving on the scene, and I can hear the sound of an ambulance. This is about 3 am, as our jobs were basically to keep the two rest areas clean, and provide security overnight.

Finally, I stumble to my friend and realize the seriousness of his condition. He was so badly swollen, that I didn't recognize him. I realize that we needed that ambulance, and fast. Many people are on the scene at this point, and a couple minutes later the paramedics are there.

Two ambulances arrive about the same time, and as the first one gets there, I am hollering for them to take my coworker and get him to the hospital. They of course do. A minute or so later I am in the back of an ambulance and headed to the nearest hospital, which is just a few miles away.

As I am laying down, I'm still not sure how bad I am injured. I know I'm bleeding from my face and my leg.
Finally, the paramedic says that I'm going to need a few stitches for the gash to my nose, and that my leg would also need some stitching.

I get to the hospital, and after a few X-rays and extensive evaluation, it's determined that the stitches are all I need.

As I am getting released, my only concern is the welfare of my friend.
My girlfriend at the time is picking me up, and I'm asking the nurses how my friend is doing. That's when they informed me that he had passed away from his injuries.

To this day, I still think of him often, and wonder if I am responsible for his death.

I was about 9-11 years old. Mowed yards for money. Finished one guys yard and was walking about a mile to this old lady's house to mow hers.

As I'm walking I hear this vehicle pulling up behind me. I'm all the way to the edge of the road. It slowly passes by but keeps on going.

To this day I don't know what made me do it. But I got this strange / scared feeling about that truck. As I'm crossing the ditch on my side of the road. While keeping an eye on that light blue chevy pickup. It turns around. I'm climbing a woven wire fence to get the hell away from that sumbitch. About the time my feet hit the ground the truck is pulled up to where I was standing and then the guy hauls *** away from me.

It was such a strang feeling. I felt like I wasn't in control and something made me get on the other side of the fence for safety. But I knew that guy was up to no good.

Coming home from work one night, I was listening to the final minutes of the Tennessee game. The game had many ties and lead changes and looked like it could potentially go into overtime. I was only a few minutes from home and was trying to get there in time to either catch the final minute of regulation or overtime. A slight snow was on the ground and I was already driving a little too fast, but then Ramel Bradley turned the ball over and I just remember yelling "FUC@@@@@@@@K" while stomping the gas. Bad move. Trucks *** end started sliding and then I over corrected into a hill side. I open my eyes and I'm hanging up side down from my seat belt. Truck had slide about 200 ft on its top. I unbuckled my seat belt, turned the radio to full blast and then crawled out the busted window and listened to the remainder of the game on the guard rail. We won...damn you Ramel.

Age 3-4, I fell off a tractor and my head bounced off the bushog.

Age 12, helping Dad pull a bulldozer out of a sinkhole, chain broke, ricocheted off the dozer blade, and smacked me in the head.

Age 14, drove truck off a bridge, the only place on the truck that wasn't bent was where I was sitting.

Age 21, hit a pothole about 120mph on a motorcycle, ended up in the ditch.

Struck by lightning twice by this point, don't really remember what age. Around 13 and 17.

About three years ago, age 39, fell off a ladder about 12 feet in the air, bounced head off concrete.

2 weeks ago, the steering column came apart on my truck while pulling fully loaded 16' enclosed trailer. It's a screwed up feeling when you try to turn and the truck goes straight. Got it stopped about 2" before hitting a building.

Probably a few more, that's just what I can think of at the moment.

I think I've got 2 -- maybe 3 for this one
But we're walking out the door in 5 min's to go hit the min's
Will get back on this one -- it's a sobering thought

Well............almost sobering anyway

Guy knocked on door and we were expecting someone. Couldn't see face and resembled friend.

Open door let him in. Lock door. Turn around and .40 cal is pointed at face. He sits my three roommates on couch and tells me to give him my wallet. I was a little effed up at the time and said "you want me to pull it out my *** ? No pockets"

He then proceeds to hit me with gun. Told me to get on ground. I had about 5 grand in my room that if he got to I was screwed. Pulled my phone out, dialed 911 and said what you gonna do now? He took my phone and ran empty handed. But because he took the phone, he got armed robbery and 35 years.

Flipped a titan *** over front landed on roof.
Wrecked a few 4 wheelers. One into a cop car. Uprooted a tree with an explorer.

And then a few times we won't discuss. I've had more lives than a cat.

Oh yeah.
I probably didn't get as much as I should have, but it was 6 figures.

Don's family received close to a million, which 30 years ago, is like 2 million or so today.

I don't really believe I could have done anything different. You have to realize how fast this happened. It was probably less than 12 seconds from the time I realized the brakes were non existent, until we went airborne and crashed into the ditch. I did pull up on the emergency brake, but it seemed as if that made the truck go faster. I tried to jam the gears, but that didn't work either. I still have nightmares about those 10-12 seconds. I still have no clue how I wasn't killed also. If that light hadn't changed at the time it did, we would have crashed into the back of that semi, and I know for sure my life would have ended at age 22.

My guess is we were going at least 65 mph when we crashed.

Yeah, what's crazy about this is that I didn't have any reason to hit the brakes until that downhill ramp.

We picked the truck up at the rest area, and it was facing forward. I started it, and pulled the gear into drive and headed down the ramp toward the Richwood exit. It still blows me away to this day that if the truck had been parked in a typical spot that had to be backed up, I would have had to hit the brake and realized there were none.

BTW, I live in Union, and take that ramp very often. It's been reconfigured over the years, but it's still down hill.

16 walking out Marshall center (Trinity weight room) went to cross the road in middle of campus was talking to a buddy and didn't see the car. I remember it barely touching my knee didn't hurt but thought " damn that could've ended my football career" today I think about my life.

16 a lot of ppl did this jackass move of jumping and landing sideways on your buddy's hood. Well one day I did it to, guess who, Brad kragthorpe( he's a douche) but anyway brad takes off with me still on the hood and takes a sharp left turn in the parking lot going about 30-35. Luckily I landed on my feet and used my hands to keep from landing and sliding on my body. Tore my hands up. Black lady saw and rode brads *** and told the coaches, no punishment. My mom was pissed bc my grandmother showing was an hour later.

Multiple car wrecks. Went 45 into a tree twice. Fell into a fire and burned my hand and a spot on my face once.

There's a few more
Obviously not an Honors level student at THS. Would bet that football career was very limited.

Age 14 on a Speed boat in middle of the Caribbean sea captained by a couple of teenagers in terrible seas. Boat caught on fire and everything. Really depressing to know you're in a bad spot and cant see land anywhere.

Age 17 flipped over in a flooded creek in a Toyota Supra. Should not have gotten out of that one.

Age 20 Gigantic wave swept me into my aircraft carrier instead of out to sea. Lost 1 sailor and millions in equipment.

Age 35 Armed robbery where guy actually touched my nose with his gun. It was a revolver and could see the bullets. Did not get in the execution position.

Besides that, pretty smooth.

Forgot to mention that I attended the Who concert in Cincinnati in 1979 where 11 died. Personally, I got there a little late and had a ticket, so did not need to get into the festival seating, and so did not feel like my life was in danger, although we were all jammed together trying to get in the ONE freaking door that was open. But I know several people who were there that felt like they were almost crushed.
