Is there an way we can fix what has happened to UK basketball? Is there anyway we can get a message to cal that he needs to change?

I will add that coaches learn early to tune out the fans, and 99% of the time that’s a smart thing to do. Pretty much every coach, not just Cal, is immune to outcry, and has said something like “if you let the fans make the decisions, it won’t be long before you’re sitting alongside them.”
There are only two things that coaches hear: money and losing. Mitch eliminated the first one from the equation. All that’s left is to hope that the reality of 4-8 isn’t lost on Cal. Buckle up.

If the results on the court aren't enough to convince Cal he needs to change, then nothing ever will. We are absolute garbage.
But I'm afraid that reality is lost on Cal. It's almost like he's above it all.
We can't fix it. Only Mitch and some big donors can fix our problem.
With a lifetime contract our only hope is that Cal's HUGE ego kicks in and he gets sick and tired of the losing and questioning of his EVERY move. Then he will either quit and move on or CHANGE the way he's running the program to FIX the losing and PROVE he's a Hall of Fame coach.

Cut the rotation down to 7-8, stop playing three bigs at a time, play the guys who are producing. Not going to happen with Cal though.
Didn’t make anything up. Coronavirus restrictions limit us to 15% capacity. Good luck making a point with attendance when the arena’s already empty.
There's zero chance of him getting fired so that ridiculous notion should quit being mentioned here. And with the modern-day NBA offense, no GM in their right mind is going to want him. And his ego is too big to pull a Tubby and take a job at a lesser college.
Probably the best-case scenario is him hiring an assistant in the offseason to help him revamp the offense and commit to a style that can win in this day and age. And get rid of a couple of the yes-man losers on his staff. But again, I doubt his ego would allow that.
Perhaps the humiliation of this season and him being a laughingstock around college basketball leads to some soul-searching this offseason and a willingness to change his approach. But he's so damn stubborn it probably won't. He'll probably just dig his heels in further.

I'm afraid it's only going to get worse.You know Cal's comments had to piss off players like Allen,Toppin,Ware and Fletcher.I'm afraid we will have many transfers after the season and have to start over from scratch.
This season is lost. We must look ahead to fix it. The first thing is to find a coach get him n the staff and Cal give him some control of running an offense that fits where the game is going. That assistant coach will need to get started from the start. Like clear lanes to drive, working on good screening, open space . Cal will have to have NO input in it. Only take about 20% of it during the season. He can only be used to recruit, defense all the other things but on offense where he lacks iq.

Let’s legalize medical marijuana in Kentucky. Talk about an economic boom. Economically, it would be one of the best things to ever happen to the state, IMO.

The thing is, he KNOWS the new style of play and how, seemingly, everyone has adapted to playing it. I was reading an article or saw an interview with Cal the other day and he was discussing this very subject. It was within the last week or couple weeks. Stubborn doesn’t even begin to describe Cal.

Allen---30+ minutes per game. He spreads the floor for you. Best shooter by a mile. Even if he is having an off night----he still opens things up.
Mintz---30+ a game. He handles the ball...Playmaker...does not dribble into trouble. Dribbles with a purpose. I understand he is playing roughly 28 a game now...But he needs 30+.
Toppin---He is better than Clarke, IMO. Better shooter...better defender...He can handle contact. Needs to play much more...Maybe 25+..
Jackson---Start him over Sarr. Better rebounder...much better defender...and really IMO, a better scorer around the rim. I like this kid a lot...
Those four IMO need bigger roles.

i’d agree with you but Cal has to get his guys DRAFTED. So winning takes a backseat because you know....bigger than basketball.
Fixing this starts with courage. Can’t be afraid to scrap the system and start over. “But what if “? Give me a break. What if option has already happened. “But who”? Who gives a ****? Can it be worse? “But BCG”? I’d take him right now, and I’m serious. A drunk, but an honest one. We will be fine. May take a couple hires, might not. Don’t know till you try. What if we passed on Rupp? Wouldn’t be having this conversation for sure. Cal ain’t the only option, thank goodness.
