Kept Jones.

Lost Mix, Alexander's, Conner(although we never had a great shot).

We will probably sign Toby Johnson.

I rate it a B+. We needed Mackensie Alexander bad. Keeping Jones was HUGE.

B-

This dropped from B+ for losing Mix.

Conner was always a longshot so you can't dock Mullen points for that.

CJ should have never been a question.

Ross was a great pickup and saved Mullen from a C.

Mullen still has a chance to earn that B+ is he pulls Toby Johnson and gets us a top 20 class.

C-. Yes, we flipped Ross and held Jones. But, we lost Mix (say what you want about this), missed on the Alexanders and are probably scrambling know to sign some back ups (which I hope is not the case, should save for next year)

So, Mullen has improved overall, but we will still be in the bottom 1/4 of the conference ranking wise...

was really ridiculous to lose this kid at the end when he been such a vocal recruit for MSU. No excuses, apparently just a coach on staff being a jackass (if I understand correctly) which should NOT be tolerated by the HC.

B- We missed on getting a good QB that we can count on, missed on Alexander, didnt make a dent in Conner, lost Mix....

Just glad we held on to Jones. Shump, Ross, Cox, Flowers are all gna be great players. I bet we have a couple more lower rated guys step up, seems like we always do.

C+. We will still probably end up in the last 2 or 3 in the SEC.

It's hard to compete when we hold back on the number signed. Yes that does have a huge impact on how the classes are ranked...

i say take irvin-sills and johnson, save the rest of the spots for EEs next year.

We don't need to "save" any spots for next year.

We only graduated 17 this year -- and only have 13 set to graduate next year. At this point, next year's class is looking very small for us unless we start having some "good" attrition from the 2010 and 2011 classes.

I think all of you are nuts. I'm not going to grade it because that's stupid, but you're allowing Ole Miss' success (if you want to call it that) to detract from what is really a very good class.

We will always have "good attrition" when we need it. Just like every other school does.

This always happens at every single school. Even Daniel left the all-time greatest program ever to go to Auburn today. Mullen (pre-Brew) has always capitalized on it though. We got Teveze last year and I was hoping we would offer him all along.

Every school is going to get a 4 star. I think how a coach responds to him bouncing is a better indication of a coach's ability to assemble a class. Pre-Brew Mullen did well, with Brew we went and stole OKSU's prized recruit after a different 4 star immediate impact receiver left for OSU. Here in Mississippi we have to convenience of a ton of athletes overlooked. Not worried. Solid B. If he comes by my office hours I'll consider bumping him to an A-.

B+ We have to go by historical signing classes for state and not go by what some other schools did. C- is way too low. Anything 25th or better is a good year. This was a good, probably damn good year, historically speaking.

I would have to give it a B+. I think too many people are looking at Ole Miss' class and are now comparing ours to that. We filled the spots that we needed with good quality players. Getting one of the big time safeties would have made it an easy A for me. Ole Miss' class this year is an anomaly due to several things working greatly in their favor (mainly current player relationships and pipeline to Batesville). Honestly the only big time player that they got that raises excessive suspicion to me is Tunsil.

This board is full of overreacting bipolar teenage girls. I was in class today and watched about a third of my class fist pump when Alexander did the hat fake and then immediately slam their laptops closed when he put on the Clemson hat. We see it all season long, people watch a game and say "OMG RUSSELL IS THE BEST QB EVERS!!!!!!111!!ELEVEN!!!" and then the next week he throws two picks and here come the posts with "PRESCOTT SHOULD BE IN THE GAME, RUSSELLS SUCKZZ!!"

I fail to see why Mix is considered a big loss. If the coaches were so high on him, they would not have neglected him. The thing about him that worries me is player relationship when the next big thing comes out of South Panola. We do have Deshae Townsend for now though so that pretty much nullifies any sour grapes hopefully.

No doubt this is a great recruiting class for them. I was just referencing what would come out of it though. If it is a stiff probation, then it won't turn out so great. Sorry so vague.

I agree with this...

Better personnel and scheme decisions and this last season would be totally different. We could have won two more games (TSUN & NW) which would have helped finish in recruiting.

Looking at the conference, if Bama-Saban and Florida-Muschamp get A+s, MSU-Mullen gets a D-. Oh***

I tend to agree, if you add Mix and Mackenzie Alexander to what we got...

everyone is thrilled. Word is that whatever happened, even though Mix loves MSU, he just decided he was not going to play for Hevesy and we did what we could to get Alexander and I guess it just wasn't enough. Apparently a very strong Clemson influence down there. Overall I would say a solid B effort today.

B+....

..Mullen went out & landed Damian Williams (huge need) in the 10th hour, landed Ross (huge need) in the 11th hour, & kept Jones on board (hard to describe how huge this one was). So as far as meeting needs & keeping the class intact, Mullen gets a B+. Yet I realize recruiting is no longer judged on meeting needs, it is judged on how high rivals.com & scout.com ranks your class. So if you want to use that criteria (which you probably do), then feel free to lower Mullen's grade accordingly.

B+ as recruiter (using MSU history) and B+ as a coach, again using MSU history. He is the only MSU HC with a winning record going back to Daryl Royal in the 1950s. I'm not studying OM, and to spin it, I guess you could say, they are giving much needed positive PR for the state of Mississippi. No way this doesn't elevate interest in all things Mississippi. Our students come from the same population of beautiful women & congenial Southerners; same beautiful countryside, weather, etc. I would compare the positives of the Mississippi, not the differences between the schools. Just me, but nasty didn't work out.

I go with B+ also...would have been an A if we had pulled in Alexander

We knew Corey Smith was gone is Ohio St offered- so what do we do? Steal one from Ok State

Recruiting classes arent judged until the players see the field- hell, just this year alone we had a 2-star win the Thorpe Award and another make Freshman AA

Today was a good day

So we will never go to a BCS Bowl under Mullen and should be happy with a 6 win season?
Mullen is better than Croom, but that's not saying much.

Class gets a B- but today Mullen gets an F. He is getting destroyed by the national media in relation to the pub they are giving Ole Miss. Why has he not been on TV selling his program for next year and for a possibility of the few left undecided that could still fall in his lap this year? Hell even as i type this Mike Gundy is on air. Nothing but crickets from the MSU camp today.

A solid B. Scout has us as the 19th best class in the nation as of now. I will take that any year. OM won't have a top 10 class very often without getting in trouble.

Why fight it? The country is catching on that state of Mississippi is a great place to go to college and play ball. If OM shines more light on the state, great. Let them be our wingman, as long as we get talent too. We will NEVER be able to get any better without attracting out of state players. But I agree, Mullen ought to be out there standing in the Mississippi sunshine too. It's not like the campuses are on opposite side of the state.

Fact. They've taken us to the woodshed every year for recruits and rankings, yet position for position I like ours better except WR.

Solid B. Hung on to Jones, flipped Ross, raided USM for a QB, but lost Mix and missed out on Mackensie Alexander.
