How does "the worst job in America" recruit this well?

I wish some of these talking heads during our coaching search would explain how a hellhole like MSU in their opinion can pull in the recruits that we have this year.

and ask him these very questions. That pompous *** stupid piece of **** has had to backtrack ever since Mullen said yes to Byrne.

What has he said? I try to listen to him on the sirius occasionally, but I usually end up flipping to something else because, as a radio guy, he gets on my very last nerve. He thinks he's so good..... But he's not

every year there is an "anomaly" in the top ten or twenty. It comes from being able to promise players early playing time and being able to deliver. That, of course, is what Orgeron did. I like Mike Riley's model at OreState a little better. He is seldom higher than the low 40's but he redshirts 20-22 players every year. The OL that beat USC this year had one true freshman and four players that had been redshirted.

You guys have a great class, for any school, let alone a school that does not often recruit that well. I am assuming that when the dust settles on Rivals you will be between 19 and 17 and on Scout at between 17 and 15.

For what it's worth, other than the embarrassment of the immediate distraction, losing Wilson was a good thing. Hughes is a better person and knows Mississippi better.

From below is from Rivals where you are currently #22.

2008 - Minnesota #17 > After two seasons which totaled 7-18 and a 2007 total of 1-11.

2007 - North Carolina #17 > After two seasons which totaled 8-15 and a 2007 total of 1-11.

2006 - Ole Miss #16 > you know this sad tale

2005 - Arizona #21 > Just outside the model, but UA had not had a winning season since 1998

20 of your 23 commits are Mississippi players. That won't raise any cheating accusations. MSU has always been able to recruit Mississippi well. The area where you've come up short, at least recently, is being able to supplement your Mississippi talent with players from other states that can actually play well.

I have to admit to not having followed MSU recruiting all that closely other than to see that it seems that you often recruit Mississippi heavily, and at least under Croom, you seemed to miss on a lot of your out of state signees.

It wouldn't shock me though if you've gotten some good players out of Georgia. Like I've always said, I feel like you can go into Georgia, Florida, and Texas and land a lot of really good football players without having to beat out the in-state school for them. You can even do the same in Louisiana sometimes.

One reason MSU's pass rush fell off this past season is because of the departure of one Titus Brown.

Know where he was from? Alabama.

You know as much about the inner workings of MSU football as I know about nuclear physics.

...he makes a bunch of posts about recruiting, but it's stuff he's pulling out of his butt.

His assertion that MSU gets no help from out-of-state players is proof positive he doesn't follow recruiting.

According to the athletic website of the 112 players that are listed on the roster 59 are from out of state

pompous *** MFer to go racial on the Croom dismissal. He did this on CBS, not his radio show. The next day he got on his radio show and proclaimed that Byrne had seriously F'd up firing Croom. That nobody in their right mind would take this job. That state's job was one of the worst, if not the worst, in the nation. That the reason Croom had no success was because state is a ******** of a job.

And then the Ninja went and got Mullen, leaving Brando with his coonass pie hole standing agape, leaving him to mutter, "If what we're hearing is true .... that Dan Mullen .... is rumored to be the next head football coach at Mississippi State ... then that's a good hire. You have to wonder what Mullen is thinking taking that job." F'ing piece of **** still couldn't own up to the fact that state shouldn't have had to settle for Mike Slive's get out of jail free incompetent experiment, nor that the state job doesn't have to be a f'n coach's graveyard. He's just parroting the standard SEC Elitist's line.

Again, I've said many times that I follow recruiting. I just find the rankings to be pretty meaningless as they pertain to my school in particular. However, for some reason you and others obviously have trouble grasping that concept. Maybe it's because you don't think it's possible to follow recruiting unless you ascribe to the ranking system. Maybe it's something else. I don't know.

I stand corrected. Just looked up your starters on rivals, and 13 of the 22 were from Mississippi.

It just seemed to me like you've recruited more heavily in Mississippi than that.

We have this year, because we seem to be getting alot more of the MS talent this year. We have 8 MS recruits committed to us that had other BCS D1 offers besides Ole Miss and Msu. (I only included HS recruits) Just off our list, Perkins was offered by Auburn and some smaller D1 Schools, Thames was offered by Alabama, Aub., Michigan, and Tenn., Bumphis had offers from Fl., Bama, Kentucky, Lsu, Oklahoma, and Tenn., Jackson had offers from Lsu and Auburn, Boyd had offers from Lsu, Fsu, Bama, Michigan and Tenn., Cox had offers from Bama, Auburn, Colorado, and Lsu, Russell had offers from Bama and South Carolina, and Cam Lawrence had offers from Duke and Okie State. Now, I understand none of these were committable offers, since that's the reason these players committed to State, but usually it's hard to take 15 or more MS recruits in a recruiting class when you are having to split MS recruits with Ole Miss, Bama, Auburn, and Lsu. Only 4 off the top of my head are headed out of state (Norwood, Steen, Woodson, and Garrett) and Ole Miss only has 1 (Ritter), of course pending Pat Patterson.

He took a really nasty stab at OM when Orgeron was hired also.

If the stab had of been about Orgeron being an idiot or lacking experience, it would have been ok. However, he got real personal about the fans and also took a racial angle. %%%% Tim Brando.
