How far-fetched would it be for the SEC to kick out a member?

Was reading a forum sectalk has going on about kicking arkansas and south carolina out and was just wondering. Also more importantly is there some type of "protection" the charter schools have that those two would not?<div>

I believe I read that charter members have to voted out unanimously. No idea what it would take to get a non-charter member out but I will bet all of the Sixpacks money that no one in the SEC will be booted.

for it to become even an issue. Someone that should know told me one time that it would take an SMU-type situation for it to become an issue, and that it took an unanimous vote to remove charter members and 9 of 11 to get out non-charter members.

There is nothing in the SEC by laws that allows a school to be removed for sucking, nor will there ever be.

The by laws state that excessive violations or non-payment of dues ($50) is the only reason that a team can be put to a vote for removal. The only way Ark and USC are removed is the same way we would be removed - Teams leave and form another conference.

<div>3.1.4 Termination of Membership. Membership may be terminated at a regular meeting, either by resignation or by action of the Conference through a vote of two-thirds of the members. If termination is voted by the Conference, the Conference shall determine the effective date of the termination.</div><div>

It would only take the alignment of eight members to kick out a smaller school like Vandy and replace them with a team like Florida State. If it's this easy then why have more members not been voted out in the past? If it makes financial sense for the conference to take in a larger school and kick out a smaller school, I don't see how this has not already happened.

Not that I would ever want Vandy to be kicked out. Just my take....
