Note: I got this from GP, but the poster claims that this came from a UM site (I'm guessing Spirit)

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; color: black;">Here is the real deal on Damien Robinson.

Last week Ole Miss informed Damien that there was no more room for him.
The Robinson's were naturally upset because Damien had started liking Ole Miss
more and more throughout the past couple of months. We reported to you
that Mrs. Robinson never made it to the Ole Miss campus for her
unofficial visit, but we told a little fib, for the better of Ole Miss.
She did make it in for her visit and loved it.

He then went on the MSU visit last weekend and it was described as
"uninspiring" by a close family friend, and he really didn't want to
go that far away from home to Arkansas.

All other schools had dropped off of Damien outside of Arkansas and MSU, so Pete
Cordelli,
who took a little heat over here (for what it looks like for the
wrong reasons) picked up the phone and phoned Tennessee to see if they would
still be interested.

Tennessee said yes, we will bring him up here for a visit. That is when
you started reading about the stories last week of Damien changing his visit
plans from Ole Miss to Tennessee.

As par for the course, Coach Nutt secretly came over to Olive Branch Tuesday
night for his home visit with Shon Coleman as it was being reported that
he was going over there Wednesday to throw off the anti-Ole Miss folks and
competition.

On his way to Olive Branch he decided to phone Damien to inform him that
they still wanted to bring him in this weekend and they would try and make room
for him.

The damage had already been done, as the Robinson's were too hurt, and said
thanks but no thanks.

Whether completely true or not I continue to get the vibe that our visits are indeed "uninspiring" to most uncommitted players....seems to be that way for 5 years. Anybody else think the same?

But I call BS on a lot of that above. Why would it be for the better of OM to report that mom didn't make it. What do you gain by that? And how do you tell a guy you don't have room and then turn around say they'd "try to make room".

If he kicks guys to the curb again this year he better keep winning b/c every other coach will play the "they'll drop you in a heartbeat" card.

that our visits for recruits would be considered "uninspiring" at this point. I would have been surprised that they were inspiring when Croom was around because the guy was old-school and thinking "out of the box" would have been something totally foreign to him. However with Mullen, who seems to be on the cutting edge of most everything, and who seems to be a times one big bundle of energy, its quite disappointing that we are not wowing our visitors a little more than we are on official visits. Anyone have any inside info on what we might NOT be doing that others are? Obviously, we can't show them a 90,000 seat stadium but other than that I think we should be able to be on par with most folks with other things (unless the kid wants an urban night life). Heck, we had a packed stadium all year and fan enthusiasm for what's upcoming the next few years is at an all-time high (even talking another stadium expansion) so why is this not translating over to recruits? Any thoughts?

And I agree that I would have though our visits would have improved tremendously. Just seems that the commits from kids after visits that aren't MSU commits or heavy leans don't really give off a vibe that we really surprised them and they came away really impressed and they now have some hard thinking to do.

Obviously we did something right with Muniz, but then you lose Eatmon to USF and didnt seem to get a huge boost to guys like Brunetti, Thompson, Sanders, Humphreys, etc.

Maybe we just weren't going to get those guys anway, but I will admit to being slightly concerned. Given our recent history we have to really hit homeruns when we get our shot at kids b/c I'm sure other schools throw records and things in our face.

IF you really think about it, Robinson didnt go on our huge recruiting weekend when we had a home basketball game. Most of the recruits who committed during the weekend of the 14th talked about the standing ovation they got at the game. Plus there were probably less people on campus all together bince there was no game so it could have been a little inspiring. With all that said, Im still calling BS on all of this

by going to a strip club on their visit?

We just seem to be missing out a little bit this year....I'll be more concerned if this repeats itself next year though...after a bowl appearance and more visible improvement, recruiting should be on the upswing next year

Losing Newton has just made this recruiting season seem alot worse than it really is

You know what that's saying? All it's saying is that Robinson will sign somewhere else on Feb. 3 (UT, Ark, MSU). The rest may or may not have truth to it, and it really doesn't matter all that much whether it's all true, partially true, or completely fabricated. That's how you read Yancy's stuff. You find the important pieces of information and ignore the fluff.

Yancy uses horrible grammar and tells ridiculous stories in the process of telling you he doesn't know what he is talking about. Steve is all professional while he tells you Brunetti, Newton, and Thompson are going to be bulldogs. They both are worthless. Yancy is much more ridiculous, but both are worthless.

but if Steve tried to pull a Yancy type story, I seriously think he would get some "you are full of ****" replies. Some of this crap that Yancy comes up with is one step short of involving Elvis, ET, and a spaceship.
Why is it so hard to admit that some recruits might not cream themselves over Ole Miss? I mean damn, even some of our folks coming up with the ridiculous Thompson stuff. He liked Ole Miss better, why is that so hard to accept? Yancy has gone back and forth so many times on Robert Johnson, how has the Spirit nation not seen the light? One day Nutt has swooped in for a last minute visit and convinced Johnson to visit UM, only to put out the next day that Nutt actually told Johnson that they did not have room for him. Wait, Johnson IS visiting and really wants to be in Oxford. Now Nutt told Johnson not to come, over concerns that Johnson was the secret MSU spy.

represent everything that is terrible about both of our fan bases. %+*%, bullfrauds, RID, leghumpers, Ole Mi$$, M$UX, etc. It pains me to to think that adults with degrees from my college can actually "talk" like that on a message board.

I was in oxford last weekend and I saw one thing the rebels do better than we do, they took all their recruits to the library with probably cllose to 700 hundred people there including probably 400 hot *** bitches and pulled each of them up on stage and called out their name and their hometown and the crowd went nuts. They get way better interaction between their bars and their football program.
