by an INT for TD.

And yes, Sean, most people do think the story is unbelieveable.

Edited to add: Maybe ole Sean is where Croom got the idea that you could pick up a wide receiver on any street corner in Miami. If UM can find a lineman on the streets of Memphiopia...well you know the rest.

I have never believed that ridiculous story of theirs. I wonder if he called Oher a "thug" before pulling over to rescue him? Thug is one of his favorite words, as I recall. I wish somebody had cold-cocked that sorry POS that day at the Hump.

He was Ole Miss' color guy with Kellum. Not for long after that little hissy fit he pitched that day. What a douchebag. And I'm supposed to believe that guy pulled his car over in the middle of downtown Memphis to rescue a homeless kid? Give me a freaking break.

If you took any of these Ole Miss players and flipped the situation and put them at MSU, these Ole Miss fan's brain would explode with accusations of foul play by "thug U". If we had a guy running around in dreadlocks with tatoos they would label him a "thug". If we had a guy that could not read they would label us cheaters for getting him in. Same goes for the Oher thing. Dang I hope Mullen turns this ship around and makes State the most hated team in the SEC.

If the shoe was on the other foot, the rebs would have ncaa investigators staked out in Starkville. I still say that nutt will have trouble recruiting this type talent to the plantation. Give it a couple years and we will see.

Today's game was the best recruiting tool the Rebs could have. Fun, exciting offense, aggressive defense, players having fun, can cover a lot of Houston Nutt's so-called "recruiting deficiencies".

...you know good & well if the tables were turned, & if Tuohy was put in the position to allow his [real] daughters to be adopted by a black couple, Mr. & Mrs. Touhy wouldn't bat an eye as far as allowing that to happen.

(For the more literal minded reading this, yes, this is sarcasm).

At the age of 16, Oher moved in with a friend, Tony Henderson, sleeping on his floor every night. One day, Henderson decided to enroll Oher at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, along with Henderson's son, Steven Payne.

The school initially rejected Oher's application due to his poor academic records. But the school's football coach urged the school administration to reconsider and allow him to attend. Briarcrest agreed, but under one condition - Oher could not participate in football activities until he improved his academic record.

Several weeks after his enrollment at Briarcrest, word of Oher's background rapidly spread around the campus. After hearing his story, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy, a couple with a daughter at the school, immediately took interest in Oher's case. They invited Oher to move in with them, connected him with a personal tutor and eventually adopted him.

Funny how the story doesn't mention the Tuohy's pulling him off the street like out of some 17'ing movie. Sell that ******** somewhere else.

that Dontae' Jones didn't pass 36 hours of summer school if you will concede that the Tuohys didn't take in Oher out of the goodness of their heart. Fair enough?

Sean was the color commentator on the Ole Miss basketball network before he took over for the Grizzlies. In a game at the Tad Pad between Ole Miss and State, Touhy referred on the air to one of our players (was it Zimmerman?) as "a thug." Later that season when we played at The Hump our fans looked forward to showing Touhy what real thugs were like, but, alas, Tuohy was a now show. His use of "thug" and his subsequent failure to come to the Hump caused quite a stir at the time.

of whether or not you could have an intelligent, unbiased discussion with an Ole Miss fan, the Oher and Powe situations would be good measures.

On the opposite side of the coin, the Dontae Jones situation would be a good litmus test for State fans.

He only had three backs playing consistently in the NFL this year. These three backs played on his Hog team last year. He sucks at recruiting.

He basically got every distance learning class that the state had to offer. He got a lot of hours from USM if I am not mistaken. Not saying he actually did the work himself but we didn't get JJ Grant into school. JJ Grant = Dr. Eddie Strong. There is alot more instances of UM getting unfortunate kids into school to improve their lot in life, they just happen to be 4 or 5 star football players. I am sure it had nothing to do with it.

His OM teams never lost to State. He was the all-time assist leader in the SEC at one time. Once, I heard he ran for Mr. Ole Miss...his motto was "a winner, for a change" (remember, this was in the heyday of Steve Sloan).

Everyone knows the BS story that was put out. However, the icing was the interview on the sideline and Fox actually putting that BS "kid on the street" story on national TV. I have to say, it takes cojones for Sean to do that. I venture to say that if the situation was reversed, it would be a thread or 8 on Nafoom, etc.

but he wasn't even playing football when he started living with the Tuohys. That either means that the Tuohys took him out of legit concern for a kid, or they are extremely good talent evaluators that should be hired by our football staff.

Only if you'll concede that there is no way they could've known that Oher would end up a blue chip recruit at the time they took him in.
