HOW is this still happening in 2025?

It's one of the dumbest things you can do on a football field and 100% preventable in every way. How it has happened 2 weeks in a row in the NFL of all things is unbelievable.

This one is fairly close and arguably the ball crossed the goal line, but why players are even risking it is insane. What's the point of dropping the ball the second you cross the line? As Lou Holtz would say...the ball ain't that heavy.

It is truly sad they can't just hold the ball for a,few extra steps.

It's worth noting that the Cards lost this game 22-21. Wins are a precious commodity in the NFL and this player singlehandedly cost them the game for no reason other than just being goofy.

I really don't know what this has to do with the NFL. This happens more than it needs to on all levels. One of our Gamecock players did it on a fumble recovery about 3-4 years ago.

It has to do with the NFL b/c it's happened 2 weeks in a row.....in the NFL. There are lots of things that happen at lower levels that you don't expect to see in the NFL. This player in question has been in the league 3 years, so can't chalk it up to a stupid rookie mistake.

Stupid has nothing to do with the level of play. It's just stupid. Also, I wasn't going to mention it, but the first one with AD Mitchell was a little different. He didn't just drop the ball. He was switching the ball from his right hand to left hand to hold up the ball and the ball slipped out of his hands.

lol, of course stupid has absolutely everything to do with the level of play. This is a terribly stupid thing to do and stupid things become stupider the higher you go up the ladder. Is this a stupid to do in high school? Of course. Is it more stupid to do it in college? Of course. Is it the most stupid to do in the NFL? Of course.
