I realize it's probably petty. However, it was all good and fun when they'd just run on the floor and off the floor with the team, and then go sit with mom. But now, you see them sitting in seats and players sitting on the floor, going up to opposing coaches after the games and shaking hands, etc etc...

I think stans is a class guy, even though I've been a critic of his coaching during his tenure. But, to me, this just lacks a bit of professionalism... Thoughts? Criticisms?

It seems pretty obvious that the players like having the kids around, so WTF is your problem with it?</p>

one of them either gets hurt or almost gets hurt a la Little Dusty Baker in the Playoffs a few years ago. I don't give a **** one way or the other, but it's a liability issue. And from that standpoint, they need to go. The situation has the makings of a serious lawsuit if something ever did happen.

I like it and I like the way he handles the situation of having young boys and being a head SEC basketball coach. He's letting them enjoy it to the fullest. Some players like to sit in the chairs with more leg room so I don't see that as a legit point.

Rick has found a way for them to be a part of his life. he could always be locked away and isolated from both the kids and Meo, but instead he's found a way to incorporate them into his work day.

Also, by having Meo and the kids around all the time, there's little chance for Rick to go out partying and get into drunken fights with Arab cabdrivers, or go to drunken beer bashes at opposing teams' frat houses, or nail pom squad girls, et. al.

Thank you lawyers, for sucking the joy out of life. America was a better place when they allowed cigarette commercials and banned lawyer commercials.

One thought on a serious note is that Stansbury is a good role model as an involved father. As anyone can see, the majority of our team is black. Statistics show that in the United States, fatherless homes are a real problem in the black community (don't call me racist, prominent black leaders acknowledge this). Stansbury can be a good example for our players on being involved with your children on an everyday basis.

That being said, he is hired to win games. This ain't rec ball.

I think that involving his family is a good thing, especially with the hours he has to put in with the team. This way they don't feel left out and that their father is never home or sharing anything with them.

That being said. Players should ALWAYS have seats and if they dont't the kids should be taught to get up. But the Graduate Assistants could get off their asses as well

...for this: If your dad was MSU's head basketball coach, and you were a little tyke who barely knew what was going on, would your dad allow you & your little brothers to sit with the players & mess around the main floor action?

My answer: My dad would have me, my brothers & my mom sitting as far away from MSU's bench as humanly possibly.

Not only because of the factors already noted in this thread, but because my dad would be a little pissed off & nervous about going into the last non-conference game with too many losses already under his belt. Not to mention the close proximity of myself, my mother & my brothers would get on his nerves when is he on the clock working.

I think the bottom line is Stansbury likes to use his family as a "Look at me, I'm a devoted family man" prop.

And I don't really agree with using your family as a PR move.
