We're just going to have to see how the rest of this season plays out. If he continues his current pace, especially with everyone back, then he'll certainly have the opportunity to leave. I look at his situation a lot like I looked at Tyus'. If he plays well enough to leave then there's a good chance we're hanging another banner.

Grayson is gone unless that toe does him in. Luke keeps playing like this I see him leaving, but if he cooks some I could see another year. He's a special player....

Let's let it play out. It's a win-win for us. The more NBA picks we send up, the more Burger Boys will want to don the Blue and White. We rolin'.

Luke is still on the 4 year track for now. Think Singler who could've left twice. Luke has a chance to have his jersey hung.
But singler didn't really get better after his sophomore year. Although he got a ship his jr year. So much money to go early if you've peaked. Luke can't play better than he is now.

There are a few guys around like Singler was. I think maybe Luke's one of them. OFC

I was just about to say. Let me ask a question before I make assumptions. Do you feel he didn't improve as a player, or do you just feel he didn't improve his draft stock? I'll agree with the latter. Certainly not the former.

He stays all 4. I'd bet the house on it. He's good but he's not great. If he continues to grow and has a supporting cast until his senior year then he will be a stud. Unless he turns into a mix between Grayson/Steph his junior year then we will have him all 4.

I think maybe 4 years. He might just be that kind of player who is dominant at the college level but doesn't have the NBA level physical tools which could keep him as "just" a late first rounder bordering on second rounder. If he does stay 4 years he has the chance to be a Redick-level player.

Quite a run the #5 jersey has been on lately. Mason Plumlee - Rodney Hood - Tyus Jones - Luke Kennard.

Also, unless he puts up Pete Maravich numbers, I agree it'd be hard to see Luke playing "better", but sustained greatness gets you a second and third contract. Luke may not want to leave early in order to continue to hone his efficiency.

Sorry yes draft stock. Obviously you're never a perfect player, but his stock peaked after sophomore year, Like Grayson last year and Luke this year.

Or the opposite where it's hard to sustain this play. Look at Grayson, despite his injury I guarantee his stock has dropped because he's not playing at last years level.

He may look at what's happening to Grayson and leave, especially if we win the natty imo he's gone.We lose I think he's back for 1 more. I actually hope he leaves after this season I don't think his draft stock will improve any next season and I want the best for him.you don't want to show the NBA to much.Get that check while you can,he can always come back and get a degree.I think we're gonna be alright next year recruit wise.i don't want to be selfish .;)

Boldens the one I think can improve his draft stock and us! By staying 2 years .it wouldn't surprise me if him and Jackson stayed.it wouldn't bother me either! They're really gonna be good next year .If they come back and we hit on our key recruits look out! It wouldn't at all surprise me if Grayson stayed also.

True, but a lot of times, the leaving early/losing stock fine line applies to players who have great "potential" or those with the old "uncoachable" assets (height, strength, etc). Think about a player like Tyrus Thomas. IMO, Luke is in the category of a Kris Dunn or Marcus Smart or even JJ where the scouts in the league can say "this guy will be the same player comparatively for the next 2,3,4 years".

So sure, if he gets the yips and can't shoot anymore, he won't be playing for the Nuggets anytime soon, the chances of that happening with a coach and program like Duke however are low.

And I agree, Grayson's stock has to have dropped but a good conference season or tournament will push him right back up. And for whatever reason, if he chooses to stay, another dominant season and he's back up to low lottery status.

Agree, but roles can change. Like grayson for example, he had to be the MAN last year. No way with the talent this year he was going to be getting as many shots and points. The hope was he would be more efficient this year, and more of a creator. Hasn't been the case yet.

Luke next year could see himself as the MAN if grayson/tatum leave, or he could see himself in a diminished role if grayson comes back and frank is expected to stay and expand.

When some people post, it makes it so clear how little they know lol.

Any who, I'd be a little surprised to have him all 4. But you know, I'm just some guy on a message board.

I don't really get the Grayson comparison all of a sudden.. Allen wasn't going in the lotto and neither will Luke this year but they aren't exactly the same player.. also I don't see how Grayson has hurt his stock. He's been injured but from what I've seen he's still viewed as a 20s to second round pick and ahead of Luke in the mocks.

Also JJ was drafted 11th after 4 years, at no point before that would he of been drafted that high

The 2006 draft was the first one that didn't have to worry about high school kids. There were only 2 freshman taken in the 1st round in 2006 because the majority of those top players from the 05 class left straight out of high school - which invariably made the 06 draft a little weaker. But I will say that JJ improved tremendously in his four years at Duke... and he's now one of the better shooter guards in the NBA.

I am hoping like heck we have Luke for 4 years. I would be shocked if he wasn't back next year. I am pretty sure Grayson is gone after this year, I suspect he would go late first round no matter what he does the rest of this year. No reason why Grayson can't settle in on an NBA squad and be a solid team contributor.

I can't imagine the pressure on all of these young men in the upper tier of college basketball to make decisions that impact their careers. Most of us here on a message board have ideas and opinions. Imagine those closer to the players; family, friends, coaches, agents pounding them with guidance and advice.

The plan is for Grayson to be gone and I don't see that changing. I think we get Luke for at least one more.
