off duty cop, security guard or whatever, following him around 24 hours a day making sure he keeps his nose clean. Then after the season is over, his a$$ is shipped back to Oregon. But you are right, OM is pretty lucky to have him fall into their lap.

Masoli is a huge get for Ole Miss and the posters going on and on about how he won't fit the system as saying he's simply Schaefer II are either blind homers or have no idea how good the guy is. Masoli, combined with their defense, makes them a dangerous team.</p>

Of all fans, we should know what happens when you take a spread QB and put him in the I-formation all the time.

Is Nutt going to all of a sudden run the spread now? (Maybe he will, I don't know)

I bet Nutt will open it up a little bit to take advantage of his talents, and Masoli can throw the ball pretty well anyway.

I'm not going to go looking through the old threads, but find the Masoli highlights someone posted when it was rumored that he was looking at us...I think rugb posted them.

Fortunately for him, he can avoid a little pressure. I was looking forwards to watching Nathan Stanley try to dodge SEC linebackers and defensive ends.

We may not go to 100% shotgun, but I think Nutt will be able to figure out a way to get a lot out of Masoli.

I watched his highlights, and he is the perfect QB for Mullen's offense.

I hope we sign him just to keep him away from MSU. The guy runs that spread option as well as anyone I have seen.

Apparentlyyou don't have to recruit highschool QBs anymore. Just recruit other teams rejects... Brent Schaeffer, Snead, and now Masoli.<div>
</div><div>Not saying it's a strategy that's really paid off - but I guess it's good at getting fans hopes up every year.

unless you consider the 2 best back-to-back seasons in 50 years as a good thing. Obviously Nutt has recruited HS QB's since he's been at OM, including the one who committed earlier this week. But when you're down to 2 scholarship QB's, and one of those has just arrived this summer, you take steps to rectify the situation.

You go find a JC QB with no rap sheet and two years to learn the system. You don't sign someone just short of rape and murder for 3 months of football.

Yeah, JC QB's in July are on every street corner in Miami, or so I hear. And you're so right about the second point too, can't believe I'm so naive -- rape and murder are just about tantamount to stealingsomething and getting high. Hope you've never done either of those things.

Actually, gotten high but haven't stolen. Wasn't his 2nd degree burglary so it wasn't stealing a CD or anything was it?

Also, you've three QB's there. One is the great Whitt H that State didn't want and is now a 100% rebel. So you've got three QB's already there ready to go..... why the need for the criminal?

and Ole Miss has some serious issues on the interior of their OL - new guards and center. Before losing Cotton, I did not see OM winning more than 6, maybe 7 games. Now they are really screwed. The defense will be very good, but will play 3/4s of every game. Plus Masoli is far from a done deal.

So:

1. Having a 2nd string freshman QB who's never played a down = 6 or 7 wins; and,

2. Not having said QB = screwed.

Got it.

best seasons in 50 years are more the result of a fortunate schedule as well as getting alot of good defensive players eligible through byu online courses and other iffy tactics. I also think Snead was the benefactor of Hodge and Wallace, I believe his name is.

Stanley won't play every important down this season and could quite possibly be out for games at a time if things go really bad. Cotton could at least make some things happen with his feet and hit a couple short passes.

All the recruits see is back to back 9 win seasons. And a third straight bowl this year in a rebuilding year. Easy OOC schedules are your friend.

Jack, get serious. Statistical facts and concrete evidence is not welcome. It is better to have a very hard schedule and almost win games than to actually win 9 games and back to back bowl victories. Recruits prefer to go to rebuilding programs with the chance of having a winning season than programs that are already winning. That is a fact.

Snead fell in their laps also.

If this guy wanted to play in MS, he's at the wrong place. We run his offense.

Nutt is good enough to change for this guy, but it goes against his beliefs. If things don't start well, back to max protect and 2 rec routes out of the I.

He was what, 8 or 9 and 0 with Malzhohn's system then went back to his religion.

Witt Haggard apparently = Masoli. Apparently he's a good rebel though, which certainly counts for nothing something.

Don't get me wrong, I would take Masoli in a heartbeat. I just think I will punch the next Ole Miss fan that says anything about all the thugs being at MSU.

Let's see what he can do when he goes up against an Alabama line backer who runs like a running back.

Come on Big D, no one is saying that Ole Miss is going to win the West with Masoli at QB, so throwing out Bama's D as the measuring stick is ridiculous. However, they'll probably now easily win games against Fresno, Vandy and UK that might have been toss-ups based on how Stanley dealt with being the starter. They're staring 5-0 right in the face.<div>
</div><div>He doesn't make then world beaters, but he sure as hell makes them better; that's the point. Better, yeah, should have used better instead of dangerous in my original post in the thread.</div>

You all act like the OM OL is a bunch of rejects from the 4 yard dash at the SO (sorry, for you retards out there that means "Special Olympics). These effers are good, but the numbers are not deep. Whatshould I really expect from the pack these days though. Shallow efforts a smack, little else.
