with Herschel Walker? I actually noticed that ad on the board. It's on Showtime this weekend at 9.

Herschel has trained in martial arts his whole life. If I remember right, he has never lifted a weight his whole life.

Herschel has always been a really good guy- a little vain, but hell, what good person isnt? Seeing him trying to beat someone's *** will be interesting...

And no he supposedly didnt lift weights, but did 2,000 sit-ups and push-ups a day

should be fun to see such an old fella in the ring. based on the way he works out, I would imagine his stamina should be fine. the question will be whether or not he can take a punch, kick, etc.

Hershel loses. I don't even know the guy he is fighting. Maybe they have him matched against a noob, I dunno.

But no amount of strength or athleticism can make up for actual MMA skill.

All the MMA champs nowadays are freak athletes (GSP, Spyder, Brock). With that being said...Hershel has a chance, but I think his age makes it tough for him. He appears to have kept in REALLY good shape since his retirement. <div>
</div><div>Overall, the Strikeforce card looks very entertaining. Nick Diaz always puts on a good show (watch his fight with Takanori Gomi if you haven't already). Manhoef is really hard puncher, Bobby Lashley has potential, and Cyborg is just plain scary.</div>

He isn't just in good shape, he is in freakishly GREAT shape. He weighed in over 220 and is at 3% body fat at age 46.

He also mentioned winning some qualifying match to get this chance. I doubt he will be great, but he may do well against lower caliber fighters and against carefully picked opponents.

He only eats one meal a day, dinner, and he has had the same routine since college. He usually eats soup and salad for dinner and that is all. Back when he was in college and the NFL, he ate meat on his salads but now is a vegetarian.

About the lifting weights, he said that when he got to college that coaches said that he had no business lifting weights. They said that he was in better shape than any athlete they had ever seen and they could not improve on it. He actually claimed that while he was playing college and NFL ball, he would do 2000 pushups spread throughout the day and 3500 crunches or sit-ups and he would do all of the crunches at one time.

Interesting interview, I also did not know that he owned the largest, minority owned, company in the US. His company, which he started while he played in the NFL and had his family members run, is a chicken company. It coast him between 2-3 million and is worth around 200 million today.

He also said that when breeding chickens, the stud chicken had to be kept in a room and the lights could only be turned on for a limited time each day because the stud chicken would literally screw himself to death if the lights were left on.

A guy like that needs thousands of calories/day to maintain all that. I'd put my guess at 4,000-5,000.
