Why not all 7?

Only Texas plays a ranked team in the first round. The Longhorns can be tough against some teams.

WVU vs. Buffalo

Texas vs. No. 22 Butler

Kansas vs. New Mexico State

Oklahoma State vs. Oregon

Baylor vs. Georgia State

Iowa State vs. Alabama Birmingham

Oklahoma vs. Albany

I like 6 of 7 past first round, 4 worst case ...

I actually like everyone but Texas to advance past the first round. OSU is next most likely to lose and while unpopular, I think WVU is next on upset alert more so since the other 4 Big 12 teams at 3 seeds or higher than lack of faith in WVU.

OSU or Texas would require a miracle to make it to Sweet 16 in my opinion. On the other side of that I feel that KU and ISU would require a miracle to MISS the sweet 16. I really like Baylor's draw for making the sweet 16 as well. Nothing against the Sooners, but that Providence match-up in the round of 32 is tough. So playing the odds I think KU, ISU, and Baylor make the sweet 16 with OU/WVU having a chance for likely 4 teams in the sweet 16.

After that its all a crap shoot, but after looking at the draws of each team and the way they play I think ISU has the best chance for final four. KU is a better team, but with a tougher draw than Baylor. I think Baylor has a less daunting task with Arizona and UNC/Wisconsin than KU with ND and Kentucky. All that to say that I think Baylor has the next best chance for final 4.

Definitely possible, its March Madness for a reason ...

That being said, this year's version of the Shockers is not as impressive as last year and despite Kansas flaws, the young talent has come around through the course of the season.

Who says WVU necessarily advances...?

To be completely honest, WVU is one of the likelier Big 12 teams to lose. Oklahoma St and Texas clearly have tougher games, as lower seeds, but you'd certainly have to rank the Mountaineers as next most likely to lose. Given our regular shooting problems, and Buffalo's unusually strong RPI for a non-power team, it's hardly a sure thing.

I agree, I think we could definitely lose to Buffalo. I'd hope not, but Huggs teams typically don't fare that great in these tournaments so who knows. If we get past Buffalo, MD is gonna be a tough out.
