How many games a week should a Division 1 ref call traveling to multiple cities?

I was amazed tonight when I saw our boy Mike Stuart calling the UConn vs West Virginia game on ESPN. Stuart was the lead official in our game against Kentucky on Tuesday. The next night he called the Notre Dame game and proceeded to call one on Thursday night. He took a night off then called the Ga vs Ala on Saturday, the Pitt vs Villanova game on Sunday and then the game tonight. That is 6 games in 7 days and lots of travel from city to city. I would think nobody could be that sharp with that much wear and tear and fatigue. I would think there would be some limitations but evidently there isn't. I personally don't like him very much but he must be really connected or he has a buddy in the SEC and Big East front offices. What are your thoughts?

he is only 23rd on the list for busiest referee so far this season, and he happens to also be 23 games behind the official with the most games (88) worked this season.

Interesting info on this site, was going to post something else about having a member who was a referee and used google to make sure I spelled his very difficult last name, Vetkoetter, correctly and came across this web site as the top result.

It is also important to add the disclaimer from the web site (my edit)

There is no way anybody can be at their best with that much travel and little rest. Most pro teams don't even do that but the stats are interesting. This guy is making serious money and he isn't even the busiest one. If the figure of 1800.00 a game plus expenses is accurate, this guy is knocking down over 6 figures in 5 months of work and that doesn't count how much he is probably making under the table when he robs people.

not sure where the other poster got the $1,800 figure from and I am not sure if it is accurate.

The only person I know who is a NCAA referee it is impossible to tell, his wife is a partner in a major real estate law firm and she alone makes a seven figure income.

game in the some of the BCS conferences plus first class air travel, etc. They are grossly overpaid, in my opinion.

It is nearly impossible to break into that fraternity.

The guy I know does SEC, Sun Belt and SWAC a week plus does his attorney job.

SEC pays $1800 plus hotel/flight or mileage/meals
Sun Belt pays $900 plus mileage/meals
SWAC pays $350 plus mileage

He says that SEC teams give them a check when they get there, most Sun Belt teams pay them within a week (some pay at the game) and he has to harass the conference office to harass the SWAC schools to send a check.
