How many JUCOs should we take?

We've got 3 committed in Ballard, Henry, and Bolden.

I assume we'd take Newton, Dorsey and/or Carmon if they want to come, and maybe a DB or OL?

Is 7 too many If we're only signing 22ish? (The 22 number came from Rosebowl)

i don't know how all that works, but i seem to remember reading that somewhere. not that it makes a big difference, either.

if we have room to bring in more than 25 and actually want to to do that. I think Mullen has said the target is 22 signees so the extra spot might not matter. However, there is plenty of time for attrition.

All I'm saying is if we only have room for 22 signees the fact that we can technically sign 26 by counting 1 against last year doesn't really matter.

Yea, I brain farted there for a second. Unless we have 4 more players leave the team, it's not going to make a difference.

I'm not opposed to a lot this year. We have a lot of talented Fr. who I think will be good in time- like Russell, Thames, etc. but they just aren't ready for the SEC, and putting them out there could hurt our team and them as far as confidence. There is no reason for us to not try to win now, and I think we can do it without mortgaging our future. So, go ahead and bring in a JUCO QB, (Newton), a couple of o-linemen, some more skill people like Henry, Bolden, and Vick, some d-linemen like Carmon, and maybe Dorsey, and of course some cornerbacks.

there are several players on the team that are dispensable. I don't think Mississippi State has ever had the balls to completely cut the dead weight loose. We'll sign a full 25 after Mullen's through, though. Looks to me like we'll just replace some of the folks hat aren't producing with JUCO's. My gosh look at this list:
Reggie Odom - Sr.
Corey Bloomfield - terrible
Charles Bailey - will never play
Rodney Prince - sr.
Terrell Johnson - terrible
Templeton Hardy - terrible

That's six players right there. Not a playmaker among them. There is no way that all of these guys have a place on our team next year. Not and still take guys like Robert Johnson and Vincent Sanders (who I don't think we'll get) at a position where we have a lot of players. 12 WR's is too many when you need players in other spots. The most we've ever had was 11. Just an example of Mullen trying to get rid of dead weight.

DE, I think, is a great place to upgrade. I mean I like the young depth but if we can get a pash rushing freak to get qb pressure from JUCO I say go for it. What better way to improve your defense if you can't find a great corner? We've carried too much dead weight on our team for years. That's why we've sucked. I say replace them with as many mid-year transfers as you can get.

then sign 25. Sign the best 25 players we can possibly find, and are willing to come play every single year. It's really that simple if you ask me.

I think our talent is a little better than thought, judging by our performance against Vandy and LSU.

That said, any weakness we can shore up with Jucos is worth it, even if we have fewer freshmens. We're under construction.
