I poke my head in but not much been going on here.
Big get yesterday with Kruel. Need the wins to come and start flipping some of these commits that were lost.
Barring a complete meltdown, I think Brent can survive a 6 or 7 win season, but i am pretty confident that the defense is going to be even better and the offense is going to be solid. This should translate to wins and close close losses against superior competitors.
Illinois State, Temple, Kent State and Missouri are auto Ws to me. Michigan, Ole Miss and Tennessee are all taking a step back and 2 of 3 are at home. Auburn i think will be improved but have been meddling under Freeze so Norman should give the edge. S Carolina is getting loads of hype but the talent gap is still way in OUr favor. This game is right after the RRR so I really feel like this will be a determining point of where this season goes.
That leaves Texas, LSU and Bama. One neutral, one home, one road. These are the games where Mateer and the offense have to pull their weight. For all the bluster over Texas' D, they looked pedestrian against Clemson, Arizona State and others. Arch still has a lot to and they're replacing a lot on the OL. I really dont know much about Bama other than Williams the WR and that im sure the cupboard isn't bare. LSU had a good QB and talent as usual but a lot of the hype is on the expectation that they collectively take the next step. With Brian Kelly I just dont ever expect them to be more than "pretty good". I really dont see any of the 3 as guaranteed losses if Oklahoma plays to their capabilities.
Now having said that, I dont expect the Sooners to shock the world in '25. But I think Venables shocks us and shows that he's righted the ship and is ready to make Oklahoma a consistent player in the SEC.
