How many NFL players are on our starting defense?

We'll start with the starters... I count 6 with almost a sure-fire chance... Banks, Boyd, Autry, Slay, Whitley, Wells.

Lawrence, McKinney, Broomfield, Eulls all have a shot as well... right?

Do we really have 6 more-than-likelys and 4 maybes playing first team defense for us? That's insane.

Someone come and tell me how wrong I am.

I'm not sold on Broomfield because of his size, but I think Skinner and Evans have legit shots at NFL careers.

Skinner probalby does have a shot.

I didn't include guys like Evans or James because they aren't starters and we don't really now exactly what we're going to get yet from them... I expect both of them to play in the NFL, but I can't count those chickens just yet.

With Banks, Boyd, Whitley, Slay, Wells, and Autry (to a lesser extent), we know what we're getting.

You're not wrong.

3 sure fire: Banks, Boyd, Autry.
4 probably: Slay, Whitley, Wells, Skinner

Lawrence will at least get into a training camp with someone. McKinney it's too soon to tell. Broomfield, eh not really. Eulls is a possibility.

I'd agree with this. Banks & Boyd are locks. Add Slay to that group if he continues playing like he has. Autry & Skinner should be locks next year... if they don't blow up & enter the draft this year.

I think Whitley gets a little overshadowed this year, recovering from the injury and playing with Banks, Slay, and Wells. Those guys are going to make a lot of plays he might normally have made. 2013 will be big for him and his draft status.

Broomfield & Lawrence will get a shot, I just don't think either are physically up to playing in the NFL. Eulls & Wells still have a long way to go but certainly have the potential. Wells has looked vastly improved and is on the right track.

What about Curtis Virges? Anyone good enough to start at DT on an SEC team as a sophomore has NFL potential. I've thought he phyically looks great. With Balis & Chris Wilson, I think he'll develop into a solid DT. And Evans is just a guy that you don't find everyday. Certainly a future NFL player (even though he's a backup for now).

Evans and Skinner will be highly drafted guys. When I saw Evans down field blocking after the interception in the JSU game, I knew he was for realy. I think Evans knows he has a chance to make some good money in the future and he is going to bust his ***. Skinner is big and fast. He'll have a chance.

That's strong! Now how many on offense? Russell, Bumphis, Siddoway, Day, Jackson, Smith, Perkins and Morrow will all get looks.
