How many of you tell your kids that Santa is real?

I let my little boy think he is real. Having said that, I always wondered what the pot bellied S.O.B. had against me, as he hardly brought me anything and lots of other kids got all kinds of gifts. Lol.

I believed until about age 8. Then I found out where mom and dad hid the presents before Christmas.

I was in 5th grade and asked my cousin who was in her 50's. I laid a trap and she walked into it. No Christmas has even been the same. I regretted asking immediately. I told her some of my friends still believed in Santa. She told me not to ruin it and let them believe it as long as they wanted to.

Devastated is not the word.

I was devastated and angry at my parents (and older brother) for a while when I found out Santa wasn't real, so I don't really want to do Santa with kids if I am lucky enough to be married and have kids.

If I marry the woman I'm currently dating, she wouldn't let that fly, so if we have kids, we would most likely do Santa. She's most definitely the boss, haha.

I feel ya but I couldn't imagine not letting my kids have the experience. It would just seem dead.

I'm sure you've been fired from a job before, or had a female cheat on you with the 1st string defensive tackle who you were better than but the coaches loved him. His name was probably Brian with a butt chin and great body.

So yea just because those things happen doesnt mean you dont tell your kids to date or find a job. Let them live the roller coaster.

And you'll have kids eventually trust me. We all said that.

When I was little I was taught to believe in Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, and a holy trinity. I stopped believing in all those imaginary beings at about 9 years old.

Let the kids be kids. Doesn't hurt 'em any to believe in myths. If they still believe in those myths by the time they get to HS, you might wanna have them tested.

When my kid was in daycare around age 2-3, one of the teachers would go outside and hide under the windows and put a Santa hat on a stick so that the top of the hat could be seen by the kids inside.

The teachers inside would remind the kids that Santa is watching to see who’s naughty and nice. Then Santa would disappear (back to the North Pole).

My daughter didn’t quite understand about the North Pole and thought they said that Santa went back in his hole. Apparently Santa was a gopher or prairie dog.

God and Santa are not intellectually similar in any way. St. Nick was a man who died, it’s not in dispute.

I told my kids there is no Santa at 2 yrs old. Been re-enforcing it every year since then. They are 7 now. They get nothing.
You have got to be parent of the year ! Can’t imagine how much fun you are to be around, probably should go ahead and vote for you as the $hittiest parent EVER ! :chairshot:

I can't remember ever believing in Santa. My parents didnt sell it too hard, and I didn't make a big deal about it to my kids. They're both in elementary school and know there isn't a Man in a red suit that comes down everyone's chimney.

Still do everything else thats involved with Christmas just not Santa...or Elf on the shelf.

My 3 grands KNOW that there is a real Santa Claus. And his name is Papa Terry. Me and St Nick are tight...they send their wish list to me instead of Santa! As my 8 yr old puts it, “Why worry Mommy and Daddy when Papa Terry gets it done?”

And Papa Terry gets it done. Joshua wanted a Black Panther action figure. Got it.

Noah wanted a Hot Wheels tower. Got it.

And my spoiled granddaughter wanted a purple Foxy. Her purple Foxy is as tall as she is.

They won’t be little forever. So they get what they want

My kids believed in Santa...the youngest until he was almost 11 (mostly because his brother and sister had him convinced...)
But they were taught that Santa only brings three small gifts to represent the gifts brought by the three Wise Men. Those gifts were things like books, puzzles, board games, etc. Anything more expensive came from Mom and Dad.
They learned as they grew up about the real Saint Nicholas, and also learned that Santa is about the magic of giving. He doesn’t have to be a real person, he’s a concept that most people would do well to remember all year
There was a Saint Nicholas back in early Europe where the legend began. When my daughter got old enough I explained that he did exist just not in the form known today but, the spirit of old Saint Nick still lives on.

Yes
That was a fun one with my daughter. We went to the library to look him up after she learned that Santa wasn’t a physical being. She was nine

Yes, Santa Claus is one of the best things humanity has ever invented. We are great at coming with stuff that sucks, the few things that are good about us we should celebrate. Of course you should not lie to your kids once they dont believe and make them think your a liar, but there is an art to the wink, wink and nod of the magic of Christmas. Dont be douche and make Christmas sterile for your children by not doing Santa Claus.

Well said. Kudos. Being a grown up sucks sometimes. But watching a child light up as they talk about Santa brings back better times and loved ones who indulged you when YOU talked about Santa!
