How many State fans were at the game?

Someone who was there? On Television I would really hear our crowd cheering "hey go state" at the end of the game. I love doing that on their floor in their piece of **** arena. Huge confidence booster for our guys, also good win for the selection committee to take note of.

Basketball is one of those sports where a small number of enthusiastic traveling fans can sound really loud since typically when your team does something good the other crowd is silent.

I can remember a crowd of 75 or so LSU fans in the Hump one time that were so loud you would have thought there was 40,000.... but everytime they were screaming it was because LSU had "silenced the crowd"

Seems like I have never seen more than 30 Ole Miss fans in the hump. We travel way better than they do in all sports.

My daughter's fiance' is from Kentucky. He got us tickets to the Kentucky game last year in Oxford vs. Ole Miss. Honestly, there were almost as many Kentucky fans there as Ole Miss fans except for the student section. That was a game that Ole Miss won! It was so bad that our nose bleed tickets were only needed to get us in the door. I sat right behind the bench about 4 rows off the floor. I could have sat closer but picked that one cause no one was in those rows. Sad really, to have a good team like that and not be supported any better than that.

There were more than 600 state fans sitting at the top of that sauna. It was 85 degrees in there and that place is a dump. I have no idea how many were there but if the announced attendance of over 9000 was true I would say at least 1000 state fans were there. There were no empty seats the great thing is there were several football recruits there sitting down low with coach Nutt bags and they could clearly here the maroon white cheers and we just beat the hell out of you Cheer.</p>

It sounded like a lot of State fans on radio and TV. Like I said, I listend to the OM broadcast during the 1st half. Usually you can tell what happens (basket good or not) by the crowd noise. It sounded about equal on a State make or OM rebound at the start of the game. Then listening on TV. You could really hear the State fans when the game was in the final two minutes.

I went to a number of games there in the 90s. We always had a good number there. But the most, I saw, was in the Sweet16 and Final4 seasons. I recall all around the arena. The top 6 or 7 rows were filled with State fans. Then of course a few more scatttered here and there.

we were pretty good and Ole Miss sucked hard. It was late in the season and I swear we had 2500 fans there. We got up early and never looked back - it was like a home game for real.

I'd say the rest is a push. Interviewing some bowl officials years ago, they didn't see much difference in our fan bases in that regard.

Baseball... does anyone travel for that during the season?

I've seen at least double that in the past. They were just more vocal than the Ole Miss crowd and for good reason.
