Mmmm.

Of late, we’ve had seasons easily exceeding our pre-season publicity.

I’m old enough to know that I have little real certainty of much in sports.

Hence the thrill of victory, and agony of defeat!

If we catch a break or two, we go NYD6, and win double-digits.

One or two early injuries could leave us vulnerable to a 7 win season.

About the only certainty is we will beat Mizzou in some bizarre fashion that will leave their fans talking to themselves on the way back to their cars.

Other fairly certain predictions: (1) NIck Saban will repeatedly kiss our arses the week prior to the Bama game, reminding the world we are top third of the SEC now; (2) Shane Beamer will use the sunglass ********, again, for publicity; (3) we will outnumber Vandy fans in Nashville; (4) UT fans will render resale prices for the UT game to rival the resale prices of the Bama game; (5) Louisville will have won seven, eight or nine games by the finish, be clinging to a Top 25 ranking and will be thumping their chests until the second quarter of our game.

Most media "hype" is pretty guarded? Everyone says it will be a good year ***IF*** the O line issues fixed. Nationally we ain't in any preseason top 25.

Personally I don't regret dreaming big! I spent all 2022 offseason thinking we would be playing Georgia in mid Nov with the winner winning the SEC East. Didn't turn out that way! But I wouldn't give up the fun 8 months of imagining a big season!!

Have I had my hopes inflated by preseason media hype only to have a Bowling Green deflate me? One day just one day maybe 1977 will happen again without probationary sanctions.
I went back through 10 seasons and have listed the OOC losses.

2013 WKU, Louisville
2014 Louisville
2015 Louisville
2016 Southern Miss, Georgia Tech
2017 Louisville, Northwestern
2022 Iowa

Since Stoops got his imprint established on Kentucky, you've had no "Bowling Greens" to be bereft about. Three of those losses were bowl losses. Before that, I was often just glad they won the OOC games.

It is better for UK standards but will we ever see UK in the SEC championship game or are 7-8 wins and a bowl all we can expect?

I'm gonna get torched but gonna be honest.

In my opinion reaching the sec title game will be near impossible. It's due to the depth of the conference and the fact a lot of teams will always have better players overall than we do.

With divisions leaving going to be even tougher IMO.

Year in and year out 3 teams in the West usually win their division, Bama, LSU or Auburn. In the East it's 3 teams that usually win their division, Georgia, Gators or Tenn. I know we want to win the East but reality says we better enjoy 7-8 wins annually with 9-10 once in awhile. I would love nothing more than to make the playoffs before I pass. I LOVE Kentucky Football like most everyone here.

Ya. To be honest the current set up that’s going away gives us the best chance and we didn’t make it. Going away from divisions and probably toward a 9 game schedule in 2025 makes it harder

Ironically the new division less schedule makes a SEC champ game damn near impossible. However the 12 team CFB playoff it is entirely possible and doable UK makes it as an at large 10th to 12th ranked season end team.

The correct answer is, don't allow media hype to determine your expectations. Assess the roster, listen to our coaches, follow the preseason camp, and form your own conclusions.
